I'm tapering, so a few in the 6-8 range, and 5 over the w/e hopefully. I will do my last long run next Tues b/c that is the only time I can get it in. I'll probably do 10/11.
Favorite songs for this cycle were Let It Go (although enough already, lol), Sweet Caroline, Shipping Up to Boston, Dark Horse, and Defying Gravity. All over the place, but these are the ones that are getting me pumped for Boston.
I guess I'll start looking at weather next week. Considering I haven't done any training runs in weather over 45 degrees, I will probably be in big trouble. Hah.
No frustrations, and I already AW'ed my PR. No matter what happens in Boston, my 2 PR's this cycle made all the miles well worth it. It's been a long time since I felt like I had a good groove going.
I have a frustration! I ripped my last damn contact. I am getting LASIK scheduled after Boston, so I was hoping not have to buy more contacts. I don't see myself running a marathon in glasses though. Boo.
Race & when? Gov Cup 6/14 and Air Force Marathon 9/20
Plan for the week? I'm cleared to start running again so I plan to get a few short runs and a few cross train days.
What are your favorite songs to get you energized or to listen to on the run? I have a "running list" on my Ipod and most of those will do the job. But for the moment when I hit a wall, I love Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train".
Has the forecast showed up yet for race day? Thoughts on your wardrobe for race day? Too far out. But if its anything like the past years, it will be cool to start the race off and nice by mid morning. I'm hoping it will be warm enough for a tank top, but we'll have to see.
Frustrations this past week? I was able to do an easy 4 miler this weekend, but because I hadn't run in over a month I'm so sore still 2 days later. I'm frustrated that an easy run like that made me so sore, I feel so out of shape.
AW's to share? Well I'm running again That's enough for me right now!
Plan for the week? Run...something! Hoping for another strong week of miles + elevation, maybe a loop around the race course for a reality check!
What are your favorite songs to get you energized or to listen to on the run? The birds? Does that count? I'm 99.9% music free on my runs.
Has the forecast showed up yet for race day? Thoughts on your wardrobe for race day? Its not there yet, but I'm ignoring it when it shows up...maybe. Bad weather is one thing I do not have trail running experience on, so my fingers are triple crossed I don't get my first dose on race day!
Frustrations this past week? Um. After a 71 mile week I ran all of 10 miles last week...oops. In my defense I swapped my weekend long runs out for hours of skinning up mountains with a heavy pack so I'm counting that 10 miles of quad killing work as 20 miles of running, unofficially!
AW's to share? Not really, I'm kind of bummed about the low miles of last week -- but I think my body needed it after jumping from 30ish mile weeks to a 70 mile week. So maybe AW the fact I didn't force my mind/body to cover miles that weren't necessary?
I have a frustration! I ripped my last damn contact. I am getting LASIK scheduled after Boston, so I was hoping not have to buy more contacts. I don't see myself running a marathon in glasses though. Boo.
That is boo! I hate when I drop or rip a contact & waste it. You'll have to give a review on the LASIK. I'd love that someday.
Plan for the week? Big week! 6 today, off tomorrow, 8-9 speed Wednesday, 6 easy Thursday, off Friday or recovery, 18-20 Saturday, off or recovery run Sunday. Counting Sunday - Saturday, I should have my first ever 50+ mile week.
What are your favorite songs to get you energized or to listen to on the run? If I'm feeling old school I love some Journey or old Bon Jovi. I also turn to Pink, Lady GaGa, and that wretched Timber song by Pitbull. The duet by Kelly Clarkson & Jason Aldean that I can't name right now is also always on my playlist...
Has the forecast showed up yet for race day? Thoughts on your wardrobe for race day? Trying not to worry yet. I've also done most runs in cold weather, so I hope it's not hot.
Frustrations this past week? Not too much. Easy week and ready for action this week.
AW's to share? Enjoyed 11 miles yesterday in 50 DEGREES! Got set up to raise $ for Helen Keller Int'l in honor of my mom for this race.
Race & when? Andy Payne Marathon, 9/14; 24 the Hard Way ultra, 10/25
Plan for the week? Bootcamp today 3m run Tuesday 10m bike Wed 3m run Thurs Rest Fri 18m bike Sat 6-8m run Sun
What are your favorite songs to get you energized or to listen to on the run? Anything with a good hard beat. Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Rihanna are all good for this. Linkin Park is nice too.
Has the forecast showed up yet for race day? Thoughts on your wardrobe for race day? No, still way too far out. AP will probably be compression capris (maybe shorts...depends on my legs lol) and an UA tank. 24THW will probably be capris. Idk about a top yet.
Frustrations this past week? A little frustrated about the stiffness in my run; however, see below.
AW's to share? I ran 10 miles pain-free! My feet, knees, hips, and butt were all fine. I can handle stiffness if there's no pain
Plan for the week? Two whole days off during the week and last long run (10 miles) this weekend!
What are your favorite songs to get you energized or to listen to on the run? Hall of Fame by the Script
Has the forecast showed up yet for race day? Thoughts on your wardrobe for race day? Not yet but I'm likely to wear the exact same thing as I wore for Philly and NYCM: capris and a long sleeved pink top.
Frustrations this past week? No not really, I'm just happy to be almost done with this training cycle. Its been brutal!
AW's to share? I ran my last pace run on Friday, 5 miles @ 8:14 pace so I was pretty happy with that.
Plan for the week?I'm doing a 13-16 miler tomorrow, then maybe a 3 mile run on Thursday. 10 mile run on Saturday being held to raise money for the firemen who died last week.
What are your favorite songs to get you energized or to listen to on the run? I don't really have energy I've been listening to a Naked and Famous Pandora station.
Has the forecast showed up yet for race day? Thoughts on your wardrobe for race day?Not yet. I've trained in temps of single digits and barely above 20 for most of this training. I'll probably be in either capris or LLL shorts, a long sleeve and my singlet.
Frustrations this past week? Some nagging IT band issues.
AW's to share? I ran the 1st 21 miles of the course last Saturday and kept a 9:25 pace the whole way. I'm not that trained for this race, and I know its slower than most of you, but I was happy to be able to do that. I keep reminding myself that I have to run 5 more after those hills.
