So...if I gave myself shin splints from doing a long run in worn out shoes (like apparently REALLY worn out), and then say, oh ran a marathon the next week- I also ran in several runs AFTER my marathon in my worn out shoes (only adding to the damage I'm sure).
I got new shoes and I really feel little to nothing as far as pain, but I am afraid to run too far and push too hard b/c I don't want to hurt my poor shins. how long do you think it takes in good shoes for the shin splints to go away?
ALSO- apparently, I was pronating pretty badly, so I have a more corrective shoe now.
I don't think running in good shoes makes shin splints go away. Rest, icing, and foam rolling my calves does. If you TRULY, HONESTLY don't feel any pain either during or after runs, I would imagine you are fine to run.
Good point. I think taking it slowly building distance, walking to see if there is pain, helps me be real with myself because I can be such a hypochondriac about running injuries sometimes too.
Funny story- last night, I felt a million times better running faster...I think my form is better? So I just cut my run shorter.
