What breed are you getting? If your getting a medium/large breed, it would be good to get something thats on the indestructable side. Our dogs are big, and easily destroy anything stuffed with fluff like stuffed animals.
Our dogs love anything they can play fetch with. We love love love West Paw tough toys. ( www.westpawdesign.com/dogs/dog-toys/zogoflex-dog-toys ) They are about the only toys my 3 have yet to destroy. They have different shapes and my dogs will play fetch with any of them. Some Kong brand stuff is on the tough side too, and you can put treats or PB in to keep them occupied occ.
Also tennis balls. My GSD loves balls in general. Tennis, squeaky, etc. He doesn't discriminate
Our lab can't have stuffed toys anymore. He destroys them in a matter of minutes. Back when he was itty bitty they lasted a little longer. I found cheaper ones at Marshalls.
Like previous poster stated, West Paw have stood up to the last 10 months of puppy energy. Save your receipts- West Paw has a guarantee. He loves kongs, marrow bones, and any and all types of balls. We have the west paw ball, kong squeak balls (eventually he gets them apart though) and plain old tennis balls.
If you are like me and can't throw far enough to please the pup, we have the chuck-it which we use with the cheaper tennis balls.
the house favorite of our dogs seems to be the nylabone dinosaurs. they love those things. of course they love the stuffed squeaky toys, but they rip them to shreds in no time. even the rope toys get chewed to bits, our little lab mix eventually chewed through his leash.
