I've been hearing the Rockhouse has taken a turn for the worse, getting a bit cocky with their positive reviews over the last few years. I think TP looks nice and it's definitely cheaper, but my concerns are that they allow kids of any age (definitely prefer adults-only or no small children) and the restaurant isn't supposed to be as nice.
We are definitely looking for barefoot luxury, good service, good food and drinks, comfortable accommodations.
I've wanted to stay at the Rockhouse for years, but I've been reading a lot of good things about Tensing Pen. Would love some feedback from you all!
FWIW, we're looking at 3 nights at Rockhouse (in a premium villa) or TP (?), followed by 4 nights at the Caves.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
Are you sure you don't want to stay at a small resort on the beach before the Caves? I think we've talked about this before, I can't remember what you said about the beach hotels. So glad you are going for the Caves, I miss it so much and daydream about going back.

We booked the Caves! I did take what you said into consideration - H and I talked about maybe doing a few nights on the beach, somewhere like CSA. We are already going to Mexico over New Years though, so we wanted something a bit different from the beach, but we can't afford to do all seven nights at the Caves since it's considered high season. This way we still get a week's worth of the cliff-side experience.
Did you see that sale they had on Jetsetter? Plus, they're running that great summer special again. Definitely excited to check that place out!
I did end up booking at the RH for the other three nights. I contacted TP and the accommodations we were interested in were already booked. I don't mind that it's such a similar experience. We'll have a few non AI days where we can check out some local restaurants, so that should be cool.
I did see the jetsetter deal! DH was so bummed that it only went through October, otherwise we would have jumped on it. The prices were unreal! With the baby due in August it will be at least a year before we can travel somewhere like that again, if not longer. I think you'll love Rockhouse, it looks amazing. And I agree that it will give you the chance to try some of the fabulous local restaurants in the area.
You will be fine with any upstairs room. The only thing I'd suggest is to check and see if they'll give you Moonshadow for the price of an upstairs room. Moonshadow is two levels and in a GREAT location. A couple we met there was able to get it for the same price as an upstairs room. Man, I didn't realize the dates went through December! I'll hopefully still be nursing, otherwise I'd be all over it!
I feel great, having a few signs of pre-term labor so I may end up on bed rest for a few weeks, but otherwise I feel great! This is my second time with a late August due date, so I'm getting used to the August heat. Last time I didn't have swelling and I didn't think I did this time until DH pointed to my legs last night after dinner and I noticed they were bright red and splotchy. Hope this isn't the start to some major uncomfort!!
