So, I've had a cold for a couple of weeks, but decided to do my half marathon yesterday. After training for all that time, I just couldn't bring myself to bail - it was my first.
Anyway, the hills killed me, & I was honestly a little embarassed by my struggles on the hills & my wheezing. I felt like I must have totally wimped out on my training plan, & done something wrong.
I finished with a reasonable time, but a bit outside of my original goal. I woke up today & felt terrible, so I went to the doctor. I have bronchitis. Is it a little sick to feel slightly vindicated that I am not, after all, just a lousy hill runner?
I was supposed to do the Portland R&R this weekend, but I guess that's off the table. I don't suppose they'll let me transfer my registration to Seattle. . . ?
Nice job! I tried to run with bronchitis last year, and it was damn near impossible. The fact that you completed a hilly half marathon is seriously bad ass.
You are my hero! And I say that honestly, because I've had bronchitis for the past week or so and it totally kicked my a$$ (oh wait, I didn't need to edit that!).
Seriously, you should be proud. I was getting out of breath taking the dog for a leisurely stroll!
