Do you use different verbal commands for each dog?
Just wondering if this is the "norm" Dakota will use every command - but Jasper is different. He gets "sit", but that's the only command they have in common. for "lay down" we use "go" and for "down" we use "off". We tried using the same terms for him as Dakota when we first adopted him, but it just didn't click.

Both of mine respond to the same things normally. Though "off" when it comes to our bed seems to be missing from Jax's understanding. They have days where they tend to respond to hand signals better than words. I made it a point to train Remie the same as Jax when we adopted her. She seemed to pick it up pretty easily. If it were reversed, I'm not sure it would've worked as well.
Same terms. Quincy has some additional commands that Dexter doesn't need, mostly to control out-of-place puppy zooms and to keep him from eating Dexter's food, which are behaviors Dexter doesn't have. But for things like sit, off, stay, down, wait, etc. they're all the same.
Even if we tried to train different words I would think each dog would learn the others' commands just through observation. But maybe that's not as common as I think, since it sounds like Jasper hasn't learned Dakota's.

We use the same commands for both, although Molly knows more things than Darwin. It helps her to see Darwin do a command and get a reward, makes her learn it a lot faster.
