I went out for the first time clipless yesterday! I started out on the grass, and following a huge freakout ("I can't do this!"), proceeding to fall... a lot. I'm not sure how many, and when I asked H, he said he stopped counting after the fifth fall LOL. Anyway, I slowly but surely got the hang of it.
Later in the day, we went out for a 25 mile ride on a closed road, and I didn't fall once. I was so thrilled.
So I went from "I can't do this" to a 25 mile ride. Not too shabby. That's my favorite part of biking--I feel like I'm doing things I never thought I would be able to do.
My first time, I fell over to the right when I tried to clip in. I stood up quickly, so embarrassed, and proceeded to immediately fall over the left side of my bike. I still have a gnarly gash scar on my ankle. I was so upset that I just spent $1000+ and I never wanted to try again. Thankfully I got over it

Yeah the money spent on going clipless was a reminder to not give up too easily!
hooray! I really like riding clipless, feels like much less effort, don't know why? I feel a good 4-5 times my first few times out and now even still I'll occasionally unclip one side then fall to the other. It happens, but it's worth it!
The first time I went clipless many years ago was on a fairly technical mountain bike trail. The ride did not end pretty unless you could all the colors of the bruises I had for a month.
