So, I got my trainers on for the first time since 8 February. Felt a bit nervous, but set my expectations low. Like just a mile is okay kind of low. But ideally, 3 miles would make me feel better. Sun was shining, London marathon had just started on telly. It was time to make my comeback.
I did it. Slow (8:54 per mile) but didn't hurt too much. My legs felt like lead, but that's also because I have secondary lymphedema and they haven't had enough blood pumping through them - totally my fault. My 5km time was 27 mins, which, given the state of me, is not bad. Plus! I cycled 8 miles to the pub and back yesterday. Loving my bike. Will ride it to gym as well (3mile round trip, couple of hills) this week. Why have I not owned a bike for years?
Anyway, massive AW for such a small victory, but it has broken down a huge mental barrier about restarting.
Chester Half Marathon on 18 May? Yeah, I got this.
Good for you honey! Sounds like a lovely day, especially w/ the London marathon happening. And... You are not slow. Under 9:00 miles just coming back is awesome. Hope things go well & you continue to enjoy your bike too.
