The good: - really well organized - music on the course - nice wide roads
The bad - "flat and fast" means something very different in Austin than in Houston, which I kind of suspected, but yeah - no beer before 10 am on Sunday because Texas is run by a bunch of Puritans
Anyway, I had fun. I ran a 1:21:04, which was an automatic PR. I brought fuel with me but didn't take it early like I usually do because I was like, meh, 10 miles. And then I totally ran out of steam about mile 6, started pounding sports beans, and was able to sort of recover but I didn't run the kind of negative splits that I usually do. I'm satisfied but not thrilled. I guess I was due for a not-so-great race though, so there it is. I'd definitely run it again.
Even though it didn't go like you were hoping, congrats on finishing! First time racing a new distance is sometimes fun because you don't have that PR at the back of your head your chasing.
No beer before 10 am?? Is that an actual law? In Minnesota you can't buy alcohol (in a liquor store) on Sundays. (The bars are still open though...)
Before today I just knew that you couldn't buy any alcohol before noon on Sundays. They told us at the beer tent that they couldn't legally give it out til 10 so I don't know what law that is.

... If it helps any, in NC there's no alcohol sold on Sundays before noon, and the liquor stores are closed. Bible belt blue laws are amazing, y'all.
