Plan for the week? Uff. Ah, probably something like this. Monday - off, Tuesday - 3-5 easy, Wednesday - off, Thursday - 3-5 easy with faster strides, Friday - off, Saturday - race 1/2 marathon with 4-6 extra miles if I feel ok, Sunday - off
What will you be eating for breakfast race morning? Banana, water, toast with a bit of jam, a gel right before race time.
Goals for your race? (I know some are sooner than others) Sub- 4:00. I'm still holding on to this, but I'm no longer entertaining dreams of sub - 3:50, etc.
Any vents or worries? Worried about my right shin. It still feels ok; I think Saturday will be the true test.
AW's? Last Wednesday I did have a good run. 9 miles with 3 x 1.5 miles at around 8:25, which is goal 1/2 pace.
{Do we have any first-time marathoners this spring/summer? Sorry, can't remember!} Not me.

What race are you running & when? Boston next Monday! Wheeeee!
Plan for the week? Well, my fitness level....it is what it is Main goal is to not get injured or sick this week!
Tentative plan to keep the legs moving:
Mon: 1 hour run Tues: PT Wed: 30 min run, weights Thurday: 1 hr run Fri: 30 min run, 30 min elliptical Sat/Sun: walk around Boston
What will you be eating for breakfast race morning? Probably some type of energy bar at the hotel, then a bagel while waiting in the athetes' village.
Goals for your race? (I know some are sooner than others) Cross the finish line and enjoy myself along the way. Make lots of good memories.
Any vents or worries? Some injury/health issue that might keep me from finishing. The options are endless, since I'm going into this undertrainined. However, I will keep hobbling until they pull me off the course.
AW's? So glad I decided to go for it. I'd be really bummed right now watching all the Boston coverage knowing I had an opportunity to participate and didn't at least try. DH and I are both looking forward to having a "date weekend" away too!
runblondie26, I ran 14.5 on Saturday. First 12 felt fine but I kept it slow, then the last 20 minutes or so home were a struggle. I know something is a little off. It actually hurt worse to walk than run at the end.
Today it feels almost good, so I decided to sleep in anyway and see how it goes tomorrow. Such a see-saw here.
I'm SO insanely excited to follow the Boston coverage on Monday. I hope you're able to have an enjoyable race & not hurt too much. When do head to Boston?

Excellent, 14.5 is still some nice distance.
Do you have access to a PT to nip this thing in the bud, so to speak. Since it's not full-blown yet, maybe a little massage, ultrasound, shoe insert, etc. is the tweak that you need. I'm really hoping there's a simple fix for you!
I've never been to PT & never really thought on how to go about it. But it's certainly a good point. I wonder if I could just look someone up & make an apt without a referral?

I was able to get into a sport's med doc on my own, but PT required a referral. (Per the PT, not my insurance.) I think that's pretty standard, but it wouldn't hurt to call around, and see what you can find out. Hope you feel 100% soon!

What race are you running & when? Quad Rock 50M, May 10th
Plan for the week? As many miles as possible during the week [yea, no set schedule] with at least 30mi over the weekend -- 25 of which will be on the 50M loop I'll be running the race on.
What will you be eating for breakfast race morning? Um. I'm not sure. I should probably think about that...
Goals for your race? (I know some are sooner than others) Finish before cutoff -- 14 hours. And hopefully finish without hating life or being crazy stressed about chasing cutoff times!
Any vents or worries? I'm a little worried about the elevation gain -- I know I can go the distance, I'm just worried the up/down will beat me up.
AW's? Oddly enough, I had a really crappy 20miler on Saturday, but that's a good thing. Because I realized before race day that 20 miles can still be a challenge and I know I need to work on nutrition/hydration in the day BEFORE the race, not just on race day.
What race are you running & when? Gov Cup 6/14 and Air Force Marathon 9/20
Plan for the week? I'm not next to my schedule at the moment, so I'll get back to this question later.
What will you be eating for breakfast race morning? I tend to alternate between banana/PB, Toast/PB, or oatmeal. Whatever sounds best that day.
Goals for your race? (I know some are sooner than others) I would like to PR. Since I know what I'm getting into with #2, I'm hoping having #1 under my belt will help me.
Any vents or worries? I just hope I'm prepared enough. I've had to take more breaks this time around, so I hope I'm not screwed . lol
What will you be eating for breakfast race morning? Cinnamon raisin english muffin w/ cashew butter, coffee and cream, 1/2 a banana in the village
Goals for your race? (I know some are sooner than others) I'm trying not to stress over this, but I hope to be below 3:30. My goal is a 3:25, but this is weather and crowd dependent. I'm smack dab in the middle of 36,000 people, at the tail end of Wave 2. I don't need to make enjoy the race and soak it all in a goal b/c that is a given. It is going to be an amazing day.
Any vents or worries? LOTS. I'll probably chill out once I get to the start line, although I'm sure my H hopes it is as soon as we leave our house and the kids. First trip w/o the kids since Boston 2011!
lilmissladybug - No, that doesn't sound at all crazy. I think if you started w/ a solid beginner training plan in May you could totally do an August half. If you plan to do a run/walk combo or certain ratio, then practice that in training. For example, maybe you do your long runs with 10 minutes running, 1 minute walking pattern the whole time. Or you plan to take a walk break every mile.
It might be fun to find a summer 10K race to work toward too. Then a 1/2 wouldn't be quite as much of a jump. Take things slow & steady (build mileage slowly) to hopefully avoid injury. And most important -- enjoy it if you decide to go for it!
What race are you running & when? I need to find a new marathon. Got a half in just under five weeks. I'm nervous about signing up for another full in case a) my fitness doesn't come back and b) I get pregnant again
Plan for the week? Get some miles in. Easy pace, just get my legs in. Alternate with cycling to get blood back into my legs.
What will you be eating for breakfast race morning? For Chester Half, banana, a can of red bull. Don't judge.
Goals for your race? (I know some are sooner than others) Finish it. If possible, go for 1:50.
Any vents or worries? Nervous I won't get my fitness back.
AW's? A lovely evening in Northern England tonight, went for a ride, ended up doing 10miles. Loving the low impact, excellent way to get blood through my system (I have secondary lymphedema).
{Do we have any first-time marathoners this spring/summer? Sorry, can't remember!} If I find a decent marathon, I'll do it. Nervous about running in the summer though. That's why Paris would have been awesome.
I'm recovering from my trip to Disney with 21 students last week. I got some runs in last week, but my legs are so tired and I'm fighting a bug, so I'm taking it easy this week. M-rest, Tu-4 mi, W-spin or step, Th-4mi, F-rest, Sa-body pump and 8 miles
What will you be eating for breakfast race morning?
Oh, hell, I don't know. Probably pb on a thin with sliced banana.
Goals for your race? (I know some are sooner than others)
There is one goal, people. You know what it is. Starts with a B, ends with a Q.
Any vents or worries?
Worried that my Achilles won't hold out. Worried I won't be able to train back to 3:45 shape without all that speedwork and hillwork.
AW's? Um...I got three 4 milers in during a five day Disney vacation? That was hard, y'all. Getting up at 5 the morning we left to run, going to bed at midnight or 1:00am for days straight and getting up at 5:30 or 6 to run before doing the parks all day...no wonder I'm so damn tired! I put in 29 miles last week which is a big jump for me!

Yay! Happy to "see" you back here. When you start stressing or having doubts post and we will remind you of how awesome you are going to do! Sending healthy achilles vibes.
Glad to see your last marathon post, shorewife! Happy Boston to you four swift ladies.
@taratu - "starts with a B and ends with a Q." I love this & hope I can claim it as my own goal for my next marathon. Or somewhere down the line anyhow. I'm super impressed by your power of running that much at Disney!
