Good luck! I did that last year the day of the NYC lottery. I didn't find out under 8 that night. Try checking the pending charge on your credit card too. That's how I found out.
There's no cc charges yet. They wanted to wait until people were "in" to process the registration fees.
Ugh, I wasn't even this jittery on my wedding day! This is unreal
H always gives me shit because I'm more nervous before a race, any race, than I was on our wedding day. I just told him I was 100% confident in our marriage, less so on any given race morning!!!
Good luck to everyone hoping to get into Chicago today! I am so freaking excited to spectate the hell out of the race this year. I want to know which GBCN-ers I need to be cheering for!
7am: Eyes snap open. Instinctively check email through blurry eyes. Nothing. 8am: Once awake and fed, make a pact between id and ego to only check updates in email and athlete center every hour. Attempt to work 8:15am: Check and see if it's 9am yet. 9am: F5. Nothing. Fuck. 9am-10am: Attempt to work. Which means put together data analyses into pretty pictures and slap wrist to prevent pre-emptive checking 10am: F5. Nothing. Fuck 10am-11am: Deal with work ish. Post lament on H&F about not hearing yet. 10:15am: Nervous pee 10:50am: Nervous pee 11am: F5. Nothing. Fuck 11:15am: Nervous pee 11am-12pm: Contemplate Hara Kiri. Or doing more work. Work won. 11:50am: Nervous pee. I didn't realize my nervous bladder could hold so much nervous pee. 12pm: F5. Nothing. Fuck. 12:05pm: Check Chicago Marathon FB page. No one has posted a WOO I AM IN SUCKAZZZZZ post yet. Good. People have posted declined and depressed statuses though. Bad. But still good. I'm mean. 12:07pm: Contemplate checking again versus eating lunch. Lunch is not going to happen. 12:08pm: Contemplate nervous pee again. Realize that if no email or update has cross the pixels on my screen that my students are going to have to deal with me this afternoon. Too bad for them. 12:09pm: About to start cleaning the lab. Not that it doesn't need it, but if I don't remove myself from my computer I am going to convert the internal screaming to an audible external utterance.
Change 7am to 4am, take out the lab stuff and students, and you've got me. I'm currently willing an email to come through, and I'm refreshing the Athlete's center page as often as I can between being kicked off the page.
Woohoo!! So excited for both of you! I knew it would be a happy day. Even with the qualifiers, there were still a ton of lottery spots to go around. Congrats, girls!!
If you haven't thought of this already, VACATION RENTAL. Seriously, it was the best decision we made.
Yes!! I suggested this for a girls' trip to Puerto Rico, and it was the best decision.
It was so nice. We spent slightly less pp than the ridiculous hotel prices, but we had so much more space for 5 of us. We were within walking distance to the expo & Grant Park, plus, we had a huge kitchen to cook in, and an 800 sqft terrace that overlooked downtown Chicago, and the 25th mile.
