Dies anyone watch this show? I think Louis CK's standup is absolutely hilarious, but the actual show hasn't been funny in a long time.
A lot of episodes have just been downright weird (like when he and his daughters almost got attacked on Halloween, or when they visited his elderly aunt).
We watched one of his standup specials on Netflix (I think?), and at one point I had to pause it because I was laughing so hard that I needed to compose myself before the next joke.
I think it's one of the best shows on TV right now. It's about so much more than just being ha-ha funny. It's smart, daring, and creative. I love that he has storylines and events that you won't see in any other series. I love F/X for allowing him the freedom to create the show as he wants. I think it's a rare gem.
I also agree that his standup is great. We're going to see him on tour this year and I canno twait.
mbcdefg, I feel almost exactly the same way. I was really excited about the show. I love Louis CK's stand-up (and we'll be seeing him in the fall). I also love that he writes, produces, and edits it himself. It's know it's a labor of love for him, this show. The topics and how far he takes things, however, just don't sit well with me. Like, he's not toeing the line, no he goes way past it for me.
I really like the show, even the weird storylines. I think of it more as a show about his life than as a FUNNY show about his life. And I'm sure not everything that happens to a comedian is funny. I think the weirder storylines are thought-provoking.
