I have the option to go back to work 2 mths early with a 4x 10 hour shift (9-7) Or I can stay off for 2 more months and work 3 x 12 hour shifts plus one weekend day(alternating weeks) Since the baby sleeps now at 730pm, I wouldnt really see her in the evening in either case. I am leaning towards waiting. Probably better to do less days.

What is your childcare situation? If you are using a DCP and will be doing drop-off and pick-up, I would do the 4 days/week. More than 12 hrs a day in daycare seems like it might be a bit much for your baby.

I do 2 10hr days and 1 14hr day a week. The 14hr day is long, but it's totally worth only working 3 days a wk. I would definitely pick the 3 12s. It's so nice having 2 weekdays off. I do use a nanny though, so I understand how it could be harder if you didn't have the right childcare for it.

We are having a nanny. Daycare doesnt work with our jobs. And, yes, if I went back early, technically my H can share the rest of the leave. But his work would frown on that and he isnt the type so he wouldnt do it.
No way would I have come back early, especially if my DH didn't want any parental leave. Working fewer days is ideal if you'll be home late enough not to see her anyway.
3x12 = 36 hours. 4x10 = 40 hours. I would pick 4 hours less work. .
That said, I have found that working more but shorter days works better for my family. I work 5x7 so that I can spend time with my kids in the mornings and evenings every day and not have to arrange for after school care. It is easier for childcare, and the kids get consistency and routine. With one young baby and a nanny, though, I would probably do the 3x12.
