Last time we did one of the "what have you bought lately" threads, someone asked me about the $10 grab bag suits from the lifeguard store. I highly recommend them, and they're on again until tomorrow, I think. So, in case you need a suit, know your size, and don't care about color/pattern/brand:
I could use a one-piece but have nooo idea how sizing works. Hrm.
Generally speaking, it's bra band size. If you're tall, you may want to go up a size, if you're short, you may want to go down a size. MOST competitive swimmers I know buy their suits 2-3 sizes down. I wear a 36, but I'm a semi-fatty (especially compared to your typical swimmer). I wear a 12-14 pants, size medium shirt, and have a long torso. I *probably* should order a 40 by the site, but size down because I'm comfortable only when totally squished. I think Susie has said she's a size 6 and wears a 28.
The sale is on until tomorrow at noon, I think, so you may want to find a local Dick's or Sports Authority or somewhere and try a few on until you figure out your size - basically, the straps should not be able to be pulled up to your earlobes and the girls should stay where you put them without shifting for a correct fit. There's an option on the LGS website for a $10 pick-your-brand suit, so if you try on, say, a nike suit and determine that you're a 32 ... you can order your brand from them to ensure a correct fit.
