Baby chewing inside of mouth

A few weeks ago I noticed white patches on the inside corners of my daughter's mouth. I initially was thinking thrush but realized it's from her sucking/chewing her cheeks. She's got 4 teeth and it looks like the next 2 are coming in at the top, could that be the cause? She has (almost) peeling white skin there constantly and I don't know if I should be trying to get her to stop or if she will just grow out of it.

I don't know about patches, but my son will suddenly start chewing on nothing. It looks like he is chewing gum or something. I don't know if it is related to teething or not.
