So today I found out that a my FSIL's bachelorette get-together plans fizzled. We were supposed to hang out while her FI, My BIL, get together for his bachelor party starting at my house. What was supposed to be dinner, dancing and staying at the maid of honor's house has turned into just dinner.
This would not be a problem any other day. The restaurant is close to my house. But since it is also the bachelor party night and its going to have some parts at my house I don't want to be home. I want H, his brother, and the guys to have a blast.
I'm not close enough to MOH to stay at her house solo. I called my folks and will make a late appearance there I think.
Ugh after being gone in Italy last weekend I really just wanted a weekend home to do whatever I want. The following weekend is the wedding.
I also didn't realize it was Easter this weekend until I went to the store for the mini Cadbury eggs in the candy shell and they are all sold out.
My landlord told me that because the building is old, that wireless setup is tricky and I should probably have a technician come to set it up rather than me doing it on my own. Okay. So I get online last night and ask their online help desk guy to schedule it. He tries to sell me something else and I say no thank you, then he's like fine I will transfer you to the tech specialist...so why the hell was I talking to you first?
Then I get transferred to some random person from Boise who says she can't help me since I ordered the service only a few days ago (well yes, but installation isn't until next Weds soooo, shouldn't be too hard to schedule something should it) and I need to call some other number to schedule a tech.
At this point I want to try to do it my own goddamn self and see if it works. Plus having a tech install is it like 75 bucks. whuuuut.

Wireless setup is tricky how? All you need is a router. The building is irrelevant.
It's broadband and needs an ethernet port, the property manager explained it to me and I don't remember specifics but apparently it seems connected from the street address but in the unit some wires need to be adjusted or something... this is so not my area of expertise. I can follow directions well so I think on the 23rd I'll try doing it on my own and if it doesn't work I'll call the tech people.
The above paragraph sounds really stupid, doesn't it.
Sounds like something might be messed up with the wires and the landlord wants to make it your problem instead of his.
Also, my Internet connects to a modem, which connects to a wireless router. Pretty easy, though stbx is the one who set up the network with good security.
tiramisu I got a router and modem. Let's hope it works fine. The manager said 90% of people who went with this internet provider have had to call a tech to finalize installation. I'm hoping to be one of the 10% who magically does it without involving wiring snafus.

If you think you may possibly need help, go ahead and make the appt. It's always easier to cancel than to find a timely appt with the cable company. I'm also thinking that this might be a great excuse to meet your neighbors.
