I'm still waiting. I should have just opted to go in. And I'm lol'ing that you are on pins and needles! Technically he's 15 minutes late, so not too bad... I guess.
Ok here is the diagnosis: rotator cuff tendinitis with partial tearing of the rotator cuff. Possible small tear on the labrum. Pt for six weeks, reevaluate, if not better, surgery. And no swimming for at least another month. I can continue to ride a little, run and do some yoga.
Augh!!! But it is hopefully comforting to have some actual info. I know all you probably want to do is swim, but hopefully the other things you can do will make this time in between manageable.
I knew, just knew something wasn't right in my shoulder. I'm going to an outside provider for pt, because they work with athletes and give an hour per appointment instead of 30 minutes.
I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing, short runs, hot yoga, bike once or twice a week. I really miss swimming. That calm i get in the water I can't get anywhere else.

So I guess no racing for now.
Not to be a negative Nancy. But I bet if you ask the doctor if the PT is really necessary he/she likely will say no and you can expedite surgery. I say this because my DH's ortho told him they only refer patient's to PT for insurance purposes.
My DH had a labrum tear but I've also heard the same for RCT. Sorry

I bet you're right. But I'm going to try this and still pretty much know surgery is most likely going to happen. In fact 6 weeks from now is when I get done with school so it actually works out schedule wise.
Ugh. I don't want to be all Debbie downer but in my experience given what you want to get back to surgery is likely. PT will help get those stabilizing muscles stronger and hopefully get some relief from pain, but getting back to your previous swimming level may not happen. Now I could be completely wrong. Hopefully I am and it works for you!
