What do you love about it? Working from home, no longer have to meet sales quotas.
What do you hate about it? So much of my job is doing things for other people that they can't do themselves and there is so much whining and demanding. I'm also a mother of a 3 and 4 year old so it just so much WHINING. ALL. DAMN. DAY.

Love: the flexibility, working from home, great projects, new people often Hate: not much, just the uncertainty of a paycheck since I work on a per project basis.

What do you love about it? Being somebody important. Developing new ways of doing things.
What do you hate about it? Other people on my projects not taking deadlines as seriously as I do. (Someday, I'm going to learn to use this to my advantage and not work so hard, but in the mean time, I get really angry when I bust my ass to get my part of the project done on time, only to have other people drop the ball and make it late.)
Love- people. My boss and most of my coworkers. The work itself. The praise and recognition bc I utterly kick ass. Not having the ability to fuck around on GFE internet, because it really helps me focus. The autonomy. Telling people what to do.
Hate- one coworker. Trapped inside an office complex, hard to leave for lunch. Often work through lunch. Bureaucracy (although I think part of the reason I rock is I'm good at navigating and dealing with red tape). Computers are windows, not macs. Coworkers who eat smelly lunch at their desks.
I agree with this 100%! We have an awesome mission statement that the company has succeeded at following with over 100k employees but the politics within each location / district are crazy. This is why I refuse to go in management. I refuse to play the games.
Love - being an expert, getting to work with some of the world's most knowledgable people, it's challenging, I love the PM aspect of it, working from home
Love: Working with the people, the main part of what I do. Even when it's super hard and stressful it feels really rewarding.
Hate: Paperwork and insurance companies. When people were complaining about how government can't take over healthcare, they would have no idea what they were doing, etc if I was thinking clearly you do not deal with privately run insurance companies on the regular. Politics aside, they are hardly the model of competence and efficiency.
Love - it changes daily, leading people that want to do well and build a career, my current boss is fantastic Hate - managing people that don't care about their job, the hours, the constant pressure, being "scoreboard" managed.
LOVE: My coworkers, the majority of students are awesome, campus is beautiful, hours are somewhat flexible, I have a pretty sweet setup for maternity leave, lots of school breaks
HATE: I can't take any vacation time outside of scheduled school breaks, the handful of problem students, the uncertainty of the tenure and promotion process, ALL THE WORK I HAVE TO DO. Last night was the first night this week I quit working before 11 pm. I have confirmed with other junior faculty that this is typical.
I love the people here. My coworkers and boss are awesome. I love the autonomy and flexibility I have, that no one is watching a timeclock or making a big deal about office face time. I also love the benefits and job perks, the travel, and most of my actual job.
I hate the BS that comes with being a lawyer the most, but that isn't specific to this job. The schmoozing and general douchebaggery are not really my cup of tea, and I really hate how it is such a dog-eat-dog environment most of the time. I hate the long hours. Even though my schedule is flexible and I can come/go mostly as I please, it is difficult to get all of my work done without working long hours. I also hate the hurry up and wait nonsense of my job. It stinks to be finished for the day but for one thing, and have to basically be available all night waiting for someone else to send you something.
