H and I are going there this fall, we are going to be spending the vast majority of our time in Granada. I was wanting to see Ometepe Island and am kind of kicking myself for already booking our lodging fully in Granada without spending a night or two there.
Is it worth doing a day trip to Ometepe?
Besides that, any other recs?
We have 7 nights in Granada, 2 in San Juan Del Sur and then just one night back in Managua before our flight.
We spent three nights on Ometepe and loved it. I think it would be hard to do as a day trip. Any possibility of taking a couple of days from Granada and spending them in Ometepe?
I would definitely go for a day or two. It's easy to take the ferry from San Juan del Sur, but you probably want to stay overnight to actually do anything on the island.
Granada is really, really lovely, though, so it's a good place to spend a while. I wish I had spent more time there and less in Managua and Leon.
anna7602 Would you recommend Leon? I was thinking of doing a day trip there from Granada as well, but I would want to make sure it's worth the travel time.
Oh we definitely are not spending time there. We fly in at about 7:30 PM and then are headed immediately to Granada. We're spending only one night in Managua, the night before we fly out.
I am really into the writer Ruben Dario, so felt compelled to go to Leon. But it really paled in comparison to Granada. And I just remember it being infernally hot, in January.
