That was my experience. The late night bottle thing worked better around 2 or 3 months. Before then, I was driven to bedsharing. I would nurse side-lying and fall asleep.

At one month, I would pump before the 9pm feeding and immediately head to bed. H would feed J the milk I pumped and then deal with him before he needed to eat again. I would try to get my longer stretch of sleep at that time. It wasn't fun, but it worked for awhile. It also meant that when levels of prolactin are naturally highest (super early in the am), J could capitalize on that and get a good feeding in. GL!
I had the same problem in the beginning. One night I just said forget it and drank a couple of glasses of wine which for some reason helps me not be as engorged / have as much pain. Then I just had DH take DS to another room and he did all the night feedings. I still had to get up around 4am to pump (and dump) to relieve some of the discomfort. It does get better eventually.
DS has been sleeping through the night for at least a month and I am just starting to not wake up covered in milk. He is almost four months. I can sleep all night though, I just leak a ton. Like I wear night time bamboobies and still leak through them, a bra and a shirt and end up with milk on my sheets and pillows. I just realized that probably sounds horrible, but I meant to let you know that even if you are producing a lot of milk overnight you will be able to get some sleep eventually.

At that age you are still establishing your supply so I would try to pump any time the baby gets a bottle. If you can nurse while lying down I would try it, however we could not do that at 1 month. Eventually the feedings will space out a bit and your body will adjust.
