I nannied for a family before I had O and have stayed close with them. The husband died almost 2 months ago in a scuba accident. I'm seeing the wife & daughter at the end of the month and wanted to get them a "thinking of you" gift. I already know what I'll give the kiddo since it's something I've been eyeing for a while for her. The mom loves Starbucks so I was thinking of getting a gift card & reusable cup from there. Is that weird? Inappropriate? WWYD?

I think that would be just fine. She is probably not done a lot of things for herself since her H died, so even if its running out and getting a cup of coffee on someone elses dime that would be a good thing for her.
Giving someone a thoughtful gift to let them know you are thinking about them and you care is always appropriate. Especially when they're dealing with grief.

I guess I feel like its just not enough. Too simple maybe? YKWIM? I would do a massage/pedi gift but I don't think she wants to be away from the kiddo, understandably.

yeah, that makes sense. When I worked with people at both grief centers, even small things were majorly appreciated. I think what you are planning is sweet and from the heart, which is what she needs.

How old is her daughter? My girls have loved getting their toes done since they were little. My 5 yr old will insist upon it when her toes start to "get funky". Maybe you could give them a special day together with mani/pedis and lunch together at a cute local place. My daughters love going to tea rooms.
