Morning! Today is a pretty quiet day, nothing too exciting going on! I'm at work and I teach Zumba tonight! Otherwise, no real plans :-P
I'm off to Dubai this weekend! Going to Abu Dhabi to see Macklemore on Friday, and then I have a Zumba Step training on Saturday! It's going to be busy but hopefully a fun weekend.
QOTD: Hmmm, not that I can think of at the moment!
Morning. I've just left dd2 into the crèche for the first time! It's just for an hour so I'm in the cafe across the street having tea and a brown scone uninterrupted! I wonder how she will get on... There were no immediate tears at least.
QOTD: other than those who are celiac, I don't get bread bashing. Bread is gorgeous and anything in moderation is ok for you in my book.
Baby C is three weeks old today! Nothing special planned. It took four hours to get him to fall asleep last night, so we're all a little tired.
Food trends? I don't get a lot of the food elimination diets that people adopt to lose weight...no-carb, gluten-free (for non-celiac or other non-med reasons), paleo, juice diet/cleanse. It seems people want to believe that if they eliminate one thing (and make no other lifestyle changes), they'll magically lose weight. It bugs me.

It was a pretty average Tuesday here -- well if you don;t count the calls to Merrill Lynch to get them to explain why they issued a check to me (less 10% tax withholding) instead of to my new IRA account holder as the instructions they acknowledge receiving indicated. I still have no answer from them and they are not admitting any fault. It's been fun, and will no doubt continue to be fun.
QOTD: I was considering this as I was trying to decide if I really wanted to use the portabello mushrooms DH's parents gave me from FIL's cousin's garden. In the end, I decided no, as I really don't like them. I don't get the love for things that taste of dirt to me. I also don't really get the kale craze, but then I'm not a big fan of leafy green vegetables of any kind.

Yes, this too! Especially if the avoided thing is just replaced with something else...
irish that's exciting! Are you on countdown to return to work?
We had a wonderful long weekend in Dublin. I really miss city living. DS1 loved the kid's park in St. Stephen's Green and the Dublin Zoo. By complete miracle we not only got to see US comic Jim Gaffigan for our date night in the city but my DH also spotted him on the street and I got my pic taken with him.
QOTD: I think what I don't get, or what irks me, is that a lot of people only view elimination diets or things like Paleo as being for weight loss. We usually, when I am no super nauseous from morning sickness, follow a mostly Paleo diet and it is
mostly for feeling good - not for weight loss. When I take out processed foods, grains and dairy - eating mostly veggies, good fats and some animal protein - I feel amazing. I sleep better, I have more energy and I fight less with my husband and have more patience with my kids. Yes, if I stick to it rigorously I usually lose a few pounds but that's not the big benefit for me.
If only it were easier to stick to! Bread is delicious and so is cheese!

I go back to work on May 7th :-( She was ok for half an hour or so and then started crying. They brought dd1 into her for 10 mins or so but that didn't seem to help. I think she was a bit tired.
You got great weather for you Dublin trip!! Lucky you!! It's grey here today... Dd1 also loves that kids park and the zoo! Pity Sunday pm was a bit rainy though
irish We came back Sunday morning (came over Wednesday morning) so it was all good weather all the time. I think we've decided that Dublin is our city escape from the island. A bit cheaper than London, people are great and it's very walkable. Everyone here (Isle of Man) loves going to Liverpool to get some city time but I haven't been bowled over by it.
Nice that her sister will be in the same creche. Should help and so much easier for pick ups and drop offs. Fingers crossed she gets into the swing of it.

I totally get people making diet changes for general health reasons, and paleo specifically is a diet that makes sense to me. But I think we all know someone who is always "dieting" (but rarely loses weight) and is the first one to jump on the latest diet craze because she's convinced it will finally be the panacea they've been looking for. However, this seems to be more of an American attitude...I mostly see it on FB.
Hi there, life is going well here. Gorgeous weather, interesting stuff going on, lots to do. I'm just trying to keep the annoying tasks to a minimum.
QOTD: Ultimately, I think that people can choose to do what they want. Food and diets are all so personal. I don't like a lot of popular foods like brie or smoked salmon or cream cheese. I know that other people like them and that's fine, just don't make me eat them. I can understand why some people follow specific diets including elimination diets but other times it does veer into annoying. That's particularly true if they think that they are somehow better than you because they are following a diet craze (or any craze for that matter). Also, I know I don't have kids now but I will admit that I do raise my eyebrows at people who get really obsessed with making their kids follow those kinds of diets. I get wanting a kid to be healthy but some of them ... including some that I know ... drift somewhat into neurotic territory. The friends (with kids or without) who brag up their uber trendy food recipes are a bit annoying (when it's done in a "keeping up with the Joneses" way).
