So last time i wussed out and used the hotel gym...this time ill be in rockville (itsa quick overnight) - is the millenium trail safe enough that i can run by myselfat like 5am?

I'm not familiar with that trail, but Rockville is generally a nice area. I don't think I'd run by myself at 5 am though, because it's still dark at that time, and the trail probably isn't well lit. After 6 am should be fine.

I wouldn't run any trail in the dark. But that's just me. If I run in the dark, it's on well lit roads/sidewalks.

I've run the Millenium Trail a few times. It's perfectly safe, in a much more surburan area than Silver Spring (I think that was you?) so not particularly scenic. But I agree with pp--I wouldn't run it alone, in the dark.
