Some background: I got laid off when my company closed. We were told just before Tgiving, and I started with this company in January. It's been a disaster for several reasons. Low pay, co-workers slacking and sleeping with the supervisor (which I actually don't have a problem with vis-a-vis the supervisor, he was never unfair about anything, it was the CW that was the problem), shitty communication and expectations, plus an 'incentive pay' program that never panned out.
So last week I negotiated with the boss who hired me originally from the old company (the company was later sold off, so she hasn't been my boss for a year). We finalized Friday after 5, so I sent my 2 week in this AM at 8, then waited. I got an email saying they didn't want to lose me and asking if there were any issues we could discuss. I basically said 'not really'. And I never heard back.
Now, SOP in the industry is that when someone quits they give a 2 week, and the company says "ok...uh...leave now before you miss things and we're on the hook for gazillions of dollars." So you just move on. If he didn't say anything, can I assume they accepted my resignation? Does it not matter if they technically accept because I fulfilled the notice obligation?
If they didn't officially tell you to "leave now", then I would assume that you need to show up tomorrow. I guess see what happens when you go in? Maybe tomorrow you'll get the official boot?
Until you get the official "get out", I would keep going. That's strange though.
I figure if I keep going I keep getting paid, so...cool. But the radio silence has been weird. Tomorrow is the end of the pay period, so it's the most sensible cut off. I wouldn't trust an offer from them at this point. They'd totally screw me 6 weeks from now. They've done it to other employees.
Thanks all. Just wanted to confirm what I thought. 'Night.
