I mostly agree with this except the horizontal stripes part.. say what? Give up my stripes cuz I am short? Um, no thanks. I love stripes. And if they were so unflattering (which I don't think looks unflattering on short girls anyway) clothing stores will not be selling any striped clothes in petite sizes!

I feel like a lot of the trends they don't recommend have more to do with size/weight/shape than height. Many of those looks don't work on me only because I'm not super willowy and skinny and have really muscular legs and they just don't flatter me. But I know plenty of tiny women that are also thin that can totally pull off most of those looks.
Not that you have to be thin to look good in anything, but I'm talking these trends in particular.
Agreed, narockshard. A lot of it depends on where you are short. I'm average height but have short legs, therefore some stuff looks bad on me. My friend who is super short but has long legs looks good in lots of things on that list.
I was going to reply with thoughts about the article, but now I'm distracted by the shoes on baggy overall chick up there. WTF is happening there? Are the tops of her feet covered in saran wrap?
I feel like they vetoed just about everything. Jeesh. No skirts, no boots, no stripes, no sweaters...
I bet they have the same exact article for tall people.
I can tell you as a tall girl I avoid mini skirts and short-shorts. I'm always concerned that my ass will moon someone.
As a fellow tall girl, I avoid the same. As well as cute little sundresses with tiny prints or anything super hipster. Because on short girls, its cute. But on me, it is amplified x 1000 and I look like a fool. Like I'm trying to look like a little girl.
Anyway, I hate these blanket articles that say everything you shouldn't be doing. Blah. There's no need to be so negative. Why not turn the article around and write it from a positive stance - stuff that looks really great on short girls?
(I'm sorry - I'm reading articles for work right now and its all "100 things you are doing wrong!" kinda stuff and I'm just like, ugh...who are these people who write this stuff anyway? What makes them the experts?)
I like how in this photo the caption says to avoid over-sized handbags...but apparently the wide-leg baggy denim overalls are okay??
Totally okay. I'm violating two of those lame rules today by wearing a midi skirt and ankle strap heels. I agree with narockshard that a lot of the 'trends' they're telling us shorties not to wear look horrible because of the shape and way too much fabric.

Ew, and are her toes hanging off the front of her shoes?
I this actually could have been helpful--some of those hemlines don't work great on petite people. And things like ankle straps and ankle boots might cut short women off a little, so maybe they should just be worn with some things and not others.
The horizontal stripes and round toes are just stupid though.
It's hard to generalize on this stuff. I think pieces of the same style can look different on someone. As long as it's fitted properly and it's styled well.
Also- I will never give up large handbags regardless of what anyone says. Screw the haters, I like my big purses that hold everything I'll ever need in a pinch
I thought the list was kinda dumb. Every body is different. It's more about proportion and wearing pieces that balance you out, giving the illusion that you have an hourglass shape even if you are short and square like me.

haha I was thinking the same thing.
This article seems ridiculous. Short girls shouldn't wear round toe shoes? Wha?
Really I just have a problem with the concept of these articles. They're all about not highlighting what's "wrong" with your body. The thought behind all of these "don'ts" is that you should dress to make yourself appear as tall/thin as possible. And I have an issue with that. Maybe I like being short, maybe (sometimes) I like being hippy. Not wearing horizontal stripes isn't going to make me look like a model. There's nothing wrong with looking like myself.

Also stripes are cute. So there's that.
I agree with this. I'm also a believer in expressing personal style, even if it's not what someone else would want to wear. I think it's wrong for people to decide for others what they should highlight. It's like saying a tall person shouldn't wear long wide legs pants b/c its makes them look taller (i don't know if people actually say that but it's an example) but what if the person who's wearing them WANTS to and loves highlighting their height?
I don't want to live in a world where we all look and dress the same. Yes we buy items that others have on the board or draw inspiration but we don't want to all look like the exact same person.
This list makes me mad! I'm short-ish and medium build and curvy. It's all about proportions. That shiz looks ridiculous even on the tall, thin models. Wear clothes that fit right and half your problems are resolved regardless of body type!
