I seem to be loyal to Mizunos, even though I'm not brand loyal, it just seems to be what works best for me. Currently I'm wearing wave rider 16s but am looking for new ones. Yes, I run but I seem to wear these for all my workouts, whether its just cardio, crossfit, or weight training. I'm reading reviews on new mizunos and they don't appear to be that good. I seem to need shoes that have a hard sole not the newer shoes that have come out lately that have the real soft bendy type sole...KWIM? Looking for good recommendations and for what you exercise you do with them. TIA
For running I wear a New Balance stability shoe- can't recall the exact model #, but I'd suggest getting properly fitted at a local running store to ensure you're wearing the right type of shoe for your foot and stride, etc. For cross training I wear a New Balance minimus shoe. I do weights, rowing, bodyweight work and some HIIT workouts in them and love them. I started wearing these when I was doing a Crossfit Fundamentals class, and was hooked.
Running: Asics Nimbus 14s, which I was fitted for a year ago and I've replaced with identical pairs as I wear them out. Strength: Retired running shoes
I have cycling shoes too, but I don't figure you're asking about those.
Running/Walking for Exercise: Whatever I got fitted for at the local running store last time. It's some kind of Nike's. If you haven't been fitted for running shoes by the local running store, it's what we recommend.
Definitely go get advice at a running store. Sure you can get the same shoes online or elsewhere cheaper, but which shoes do you need? That's what you pay for: advice. Go to one that can properly analyse your run style so they can see whether you roll your feet (pronate) when you run. Some people go get this advice then buy the shoes they need cheaper elsewhere. This is bad karma. The people in these shops provide a great service.
Running: Adidas Supernova all the way for me. I don't pronate and I like the support.

Love my Mizuno Inspire 10s for bootcamp type working out - have been in them for over a month now and no more knee pain. Definitely agree about going to a specialty store - my 10's were actually about $10 less at that store ($100) than anywhere online or in other big box stores locally.
I got fitted at a running store and ended up in saucony guide 5s once and mizuno wave inspires another time. However, I pretty much run exclusively in Brooks Pure flows now, even though I'm sure a running store fit wouldn't recommend them. I've used them this entire ironman training cycle for runs up to 18 miles and I adore them.
