My skin is a little bit acne prone, and I have some hyper pigmentation on my cheeks. It has just been looking so dull lately. I'm thinking of booking an appointment with an esthetician to see what I should do, but it looks like a peel is a good option. It looks like you do a series where you increase the %?
I see a few at-home kits, but that makes me a little nervous.
I've had them and a series works best. I had good results, and they are better than in the past when it was horrible to be seen in public ( think Samantha from sex and the city if you saw that episode!) but one thing to note is the increased sun sensitivity,at least for a couple weeks after. it could be a pain with your training/summer sun. I'd talk to a derm doc and also see if microdermabrasion might be another option. It cleared up my skin, again with a series, and maybe consider a peel in off season?
Thanks labbie - I was thinking sun sensitivity might be an issue.
I'm hoping I get pg after TX, and I assume it's not recommended during pregnancy/nursing, so therefore I am cursed with several more years of terrible skin...ahhhhhh dramadramagrumble

I hear ya about the chemical peels and being pg/nursing, but seriously consider a series of microdermabrasions- it's basically a nice relaxing facial with some "sandblasting" thrown in, lol! Honestly it's the one treatment I budget for because it's made a huge difference in my skin.

Ok, that's good to know! Thank you I need to do something badly.

Do you have a Clairisonic, by chance? I started having adult acne issues in January. I've never really had acne issues before. My skin looked terrible, and I just wasn't taking good care of it. I bought the Clairisonic, and it has made a huge difference. My acne has cleared up, and my skin looks much more even and fresh. Just something to think about if you're looking for an at home remedy.

I do have one, & it does keep breakouts to a minimum. It won't touch my hyper pigmentation, unfortunately.

I'm sorry. I think you should go for the peel. I've done at home peels, and they are ok. I think you would probably get great results scheduling a peel.

All of this. My skin could really use another series of peels (and, quite frankly, a little Botox-don't flame!). The biggest hindrance to me getting another one done is the fact that I live in the South and with a little one, it's pretty tough to avoid the sunlight. I have also had microderm done, and while the results are not as dramatic, my skin did look great and the recovery is much easier.

The sun really is a factor for me, too. Thanks for your advice. And no flames on the Botox! I am not opposed!
I just sent an email to an acquaintance who is an esthetician at a dermaspa. I'll see if I can get a consultation. Hopefully she has a magic solution

This is a good idea. They can do an eval of your lifestyle, skin, etc. and recommend an option that works best for you.
