We went out for friend's bachelorette last night. I sat at the other end of the table during dinner, but I realized when we got our cards back from paying that friend bought her own dinner! Her sister (who is moh and organized the party) was sitting beside her. I assumed she would buy her dinner or ask us to chip in. Then at the comedy club, the waiter brought friend her ticket for drinks and apps and no one offered to take it from her. I finally grabbed it and paid for it myself. No one offered to chip in. It was only $40, so not really a big deal.
This isn't normal, right? Any bachelorette I have been to, we have always paid for her stuff all night.
She definitely shouldn't have paid. My DH and his friends plan pretty elaborate parties (Vegas, Boston, NYC, Chicago) and they still budget so that the groom isn't paying for anything at all.
hell no the bride doesn't pay. whoever plans the bach party pays, or it is split between the whole group. I didn't pay for a damn thing at mine and I'm not entirely sure who did. my sisters, the MOHs, did not organize the party but I'm sure they paid for at least part of it.
The guest of honor shouldn't have to pay. I can't believe no one paid for her meal! (I know you weren't near her, and you did what you could.) But that anyone near her let her pay is bizarre to me.
Is this a situation where the sister/MOH has never been included on such an event and doesn't understand the protocol? Like she's 18 and has never been in a wedding? I can understand mom not wanting to pass the hat, but if she wasn't willing to- someone should make this right.

No she is older than bride. She is married with two kids. She has to understand what the protocol is. Or at least I would think she does. Maybe not?
My coworkers were texting me in a group text and one of them texted, "It reminds me of tambcat." I realized they had found me on here and had been lurking.
