I would be nervouse to fly in October (the beginning of flu season) with a baby to young to be vaccinated (6 mos. for the flu). Otherwise, it really depends on your baby and BFing schedule/comfort. DD was easy and would have been totally fine. I wouldn't have been able to BF in public b/c DD was not a good nurser, but I was pumping too so it would have been fine to give her a bottle.
I flew with my twins at 7 weeks old. It was during February so I was really concerned with fly/rsv season. I made sure absolutely no touched them and brought lots of hand santizer for myself and mom who flew with me. They were awesome and slept the whole time. They didn't get sick and it was fine.
side note: I think people were especially interested in twins, but of course people want to see/touch all little babies. Be prepared to tell people not to touch, etc. I used a blankets to cover them and used the "they are sleeping" excuse. I had a lady on a plane straight up ask if she could hold one, hell to the no.

I would not want to fly at that age, but maybe I am just paranoid. I would potentially attempt a car trip at two months though. Some of it is going to depend on the baby. If your baby hates being in the car seat, a long trip may not be the best idea.

My funny story like this is when I brought 3mo DS to the assisted living facility to meet my grandfather and an old lady LET GO OF HER WALKER and asked to hold him. Um, no.
We took ds to spain and portugal at 10 weeks, and to see my inlaws at 8 weeks. I would do it, just wear the baby so they are close to you and no one can touch them.
I was pretty paranoid about germs but we took DS on his first flight at 3mos old. It was September, so a little different than if he was born later in the year and his flight was at the start of flu season. We have lucked out and he's been a great traveler on the 12 flights so far (minus one flight). I wish you guys good luck!
I took E on a plane at 2, 3, 7 and 8 months to visit family. Didnt have any problems, even during a 6 hour delay. He happily sat on our laps, people-watched, ate or slept. Easy peasy.

Well, I drove to Gettysburg (13 hrs) with a 3 mo old. It wasn't great fun, but it was do able. Luckily she slept in a pack n play well - most hotels have them - though you'd want to bring your own sheet for them.
I would say it would be easier to travel with a 2 mo old vs a 2yr old b/c they sleep so much. If you time her feedings well, you can avoid the ear pressure issues that cause most people irritation.
The biggest problem would be the amount of crap you need to travel with. If you put her in an infant seat on the plane, then you can just strap that into a rental car (vs traveling with the base). And if you're breastfeeding & pumping that can add a lot of 'stuff'.
We considered flying with our daughter for a wedding right at two months. Our pediatrician was okay with it, but suggested moving up her two month vaccines to about six weeks of age, so that she would have time to have a little protection by the time we put her on a plane.
We did not end up going because I was so sleep deprived when the responses were due that I decided I didn't want to go.

We flew with DD at 11 days old, 2 months old and to Europe at 4 months old (and many more times since then). All of those were easy. I BF so I am sure that helped. She was not a crib napper during any of those trips but she would just nap on me and while in Europe she would nap in her car seat or in the Ergo. We booked the trip at 11 days old before she was born and were ready to eat my ticket if for some reason she or I would not have been able to travel

We flew when DS was three weeks old to find a place to rent for our upcoming move. I kept him in my Moby and he slept the whole time. I nursed during take-off and landing to help with ear pressure. Easy-peasy - especially compared to the flight we took a week ago.

We flew 7 hours to San Fran at 2 months. It was easy peasy. We had an early morning flight. DS nursed on takeoff then proceeded to sleep for the entire 7 hours occasionally stirring to eat. It was perfection.
DH and I took a 3 hr flight with the twins when they were 2 1/2 months old. They slept the entire flight both ways. Navigating through the airport was trickier, but we both wore carriers and just carried our bags and their car seats through the airport. We did have to take them out of the carriers when we went through security.
Assuming I will be taking maternity leave and returning to work after 3-4 months, we will most definitely be considering a vacation when the baby is 2 months old.
