I promise to stop being an AW but...one last question. If you could choose any marathon in the world, where would you go? My dad did Chicago when he was 50 and promised himself he'd do another at 60, which is 2015. Since this will likely be his last (and my first/only) I think it'd be awesome to go all out to somewhere amazing. Whatcha think?
'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather, to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming 'Woohoo! What a ride!' So every day is a holiday and every meal a feast."
does he want a big race or smaller one? i.e. does he love the big crowds?
HATES big crowds in general (a Disney vacation is his worst.nightmare) BUT a big race may be a different story. The exhilaration of a crowd, big expo, full "big marathon experience" may be something he'd enjoy as much as a smaller, scenic road or trail race. All that to say: either.

okay - I always brag on Mt. Desert Island Marathon - but it is AMAZING. Starts in downtown Bar Harbor and follows the coast line to end in Southwest Harbor. Amazing views, lovely area! Small race though
