Way back in the day, I signed up to kick the shit out of my first marathon course next week. I'm not in any way ready or able to do that, so I will move down. But I'm confuzzled about which race to run next Sunday.
I ran the half last year and it was okay. I just had a blah race day. The course is a point to point, there are pockets of support, it's a course I know and have run multiple times. I haven't pushed hard in a half in a reallllly long time, so I have no idea how it would go. I am tired of plodding along (I haven't run with a time goal in months and months), but I haven't done any serious training, so I don't really know what I'm capable of.
I've never run the 10K. The distance is my favorite when I'm in racing shape, because I like to go fast. But I have done NO speedwork. It's a course I've never run that could be fun...through the old town neighborhoods, around a cemetery and then down the bike trail. I know I will be an idiot who goes too fast and will suffer.
Since you haven't done any focused training & don't have a time goal for either, I think I'd do the 10k. I welcome any chance to try out a new course, and you've done a couple halves recently. I'd have fun with it, and mix it up a bit.
