Hi! My adult cat is 12 years old. Since she was a tiny kitten she was always very, very shy. Her older sister passed away several months ago. I recently adopted a kitten- she is 11weeks old. The kitten is hissing at my adult cat. The adult doesn't really hiss back, but gives the kitten a bop on the head and then runs and hides. My adult cat was always the type that hides out most of the time...she's the invisible cat...come out to eat get some treats and pets and disappears. The kitten is very playful and very very friendly...purrs and jumps on your lap for a nap, sleeps on my pillow next to my head. Any suggestions on getting kitten to stop hissing?? PS- kitten loves my little lion head rabbit...follows him around, climbs in his cage with him..

I had a similar situation. My 11 year old girl (who is also very shy and frequently hides) lost her brother in November and we got 2 five month old kittens in January. I'm glad I got two because the boys harass each other instead of her. We've had a lot of issues with her adjustment. I hope yours goes better than ours! ) If you think it might work for your family, consider another kitten so that they can bug each other and leave her alone.
