Recovery is going great! I feel back to normal, although I know I've got another week or two before my speed comes back. Mentally, I'm in the "OK, what now?" stage. I have a couple 5k's and a 10k planned for the summer, so that should settle my urge to race. As my AW, I'll share some finish line photos Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted
What the heck cinco, are you sure you ran a marathon? Seriously, I looked and felt like death after my marathon.
I'm not officially training for my marathon yet. Basically I have a two months to runa few 5ks, sorry clseale, and drop a few pounds before marathon training starts.
Favorite run - probably the long run
Food - I usually drink chocolate milk after a long run and/or coffee. I'm not really hungry till a few hours later and then the runger sneaks up on me and I want to eat anything I can find.
What race & when? 9/14 Andy Payne Marathon, 10/25 24 the Hard Way 12hr road option
AW's this week? Running: I've started running all of my Thursday recovery runs at a steady pace without stopping (on the treadmill at 5.5, as opposed to running faster but having to take breaks). They're only 3 miles right now, but hopefully I can keep it up. Cycling: I wasn't last on either of the 2 group bike rides last week. Woot. And I only fell on the second one (new clipless pedals lol).
Any setbacks? I'm not sure if this is a setback or not, but I was sick for most of yesterday, so that combined with a lot of school work meant that I skipped the 7 mile long run that I should have done. Normally I'd go do it anyway, but I figured that if there was one I had to skip, it should be one of the shorter ones.
What's your favorite type of run (tempo, repeats, long, hills, etc)? That's sort of hard. I really hate sprints while they're happening, but I feel a big sense of accomplishment after I've done them. I haven't yet done a tempo run, so we'll see. I guess I enjoy long runs the most.
What do you like to eat right after a long run? {I feel like we talk about pre-run eats a lot, but how do you refuel/recover after?} I like 1% chocolate milk. Other than that, I'll eat anything I can find. I'm curious to see the other answers to this because I need to work on my nutrition. It's not what it should be right now.
I'm not a regular around here but I recently decided to take on my first marathon (and got h to agree to support the training). It's Big Sur, and it's a ways away, not until April 2015. But the prospect of finally moving beyond halves is so fun!!
Favorite run is the long run. I train on trails and the trails near my house are so pretty.
Food- unusually eat eggs after long runs . I don't know why.
What race & when? Tentatively: Newport Marathon. We shall see.
AW's this week? Nope, but I am an Auntie again... so that's something right?!
Any setbacks? Yes, these darn shins. I'm hoping they've had enough rest so I can start getting my mileage up.
What's your favorite type of run (tempo, repeats, long, hills, etc)? long
What do you like to eat right after a long run? {I feel like we talk about pre-run eats a lot, but how do you refuel/recover after?} Protein with almond milk, maybe a KIND bar or something of the sort

This is your big weekend right thom? Eeeek! So excited for you!
You look adorable cinco! You make it look so easy.
Everything feels great and I'm itching to work out again, except for my quads. OMG, they were destroyed. I can finally squat down to pick up the baby and climb stairs without pausing. I may try some yoga and an easy shakeout run tomorrow.
The nice thing about having not followed a training plan for this marathon is there's no withdrawal now that it's over. I can go back to random workouts as usual, lol.
runblondie26 - not quite yet. 2 weeks. But getting close! The "no withdrawal" makes me smile. I'm sort of doing random right now, so I'm also hoping for no withdrawl..
What race & when? LWTM 5.10.14
AW's this week? Last long run went great. 15 miles with last 6 at marathon pace.
Any setbacks? My body is pretty much in one piece, so I'm pleased. I've been so tired lately, though. Need. More. Sleep.
What's your favorite type of run (tempo, repeats, long, hills, etc)? I've really embraced mile repeats this training cycle. I also like 400's on the track.
What do you like to eat right after a long run? Chocolate milk. Maybe cereal. Usually I need to wait another hour or so to eat real food because my stomach is in knots. For a quick, easy meal, I'll do a scrambled egg sandwich with cheese, a few veggies and ham or bacon.

I ran my marathon back in January. For the few days following, I couldn't wait to do another. But then the burnout set in and I've been totally unmotivated for the past 4 months. I'm finally getting back in to running consistently, and am looking for my next full. I'm thinking winter 2015/early spring 2016. I still need more time to wrap my head around doing that again

What race & when? Quad Rock 50M - May 10th. Ah!
AW's this week? Didn't freak out about mileage...but the mileage I did get isn't quite AW-worthy! But I did run the same trail I first ran when I was considering ultras. That was 9 months ago and back then I hiked a LOT of it. Yesterday I ran the full loop as an easy recovery run...that was a confidence boost that my poor brain really needed! It was cold and windy...but it was perfect!
Any setbacks? Nothing specific -- it wasn't a stellar week of running but it's kind of my own fault, which I'm telling myself I am okay with!
What's your favorite type of run (tempo, repeats, long, hills, etc)? The long run...that takes hours but doesn't have any pace pressure! I won't get one of those again until after the race, but, man I need one!
What do you like to eat right after a long run? {I feel like we talk about pre-run eats a lot, but how do you refuel/recover after?} Probably not the best food -- whatever I'm in the mood for. After the teary melt down two weeks ago I ate potato oles from Taco Johns + root beer float + cheese curds from Culver's. But then I was eating my feelings... On a regular day a blue powerade works wonders, seriously, it's magical!

What race & when? Colorado Fall Classic, September 14
AW's this week? I had an awesome 6.3-miler last Thursday - out in 28 minutes, back in 24.
Any setbacks? Nope.
What's your favorite type of run (tempo, repeats, long, hills, etc)? I love hills and repeats...any kind of speedwork, really. But I've been limited lately, which frustrates me to no end!
What do you like to eat right after a long run? {I feel like we talk about pre-run eats a lot, but how do you refuel/recover after?} I don't like to. I drink water and some coffee. I know that's not ideal, but food right after sounds disgusting to me, ya know? Later, I grab eggs on toast or cereal or whatever. I DO like to go out to breakfast after a shower, though.
cinco how do you look so good after 26 miles? Please share your secrets.
Thanks ladies! Dehydration plus sunburn plus a thin layer if salt. Lovely I love marathon pics b/c I always look so damn happy to finish. I will NEVER share a 5k pic. Nope. Not uh.
What race & when? Gov Cup 6/14 and AF Marathon 9/20
AW's this week? I've been adding in some speed work runs on the treadmill over the past few weeks and I think I'm seeing progress from that.
Any setbacks? Nope
What's your favorite type of run (tempo, repeats, long, hills, etc)? Medium-Long runs are my favorite, I think. Like 10-15miles.
What do you like to eat right after a long run? {I feel like we talk about pre-run eats a lot, but how do you refuel/recover after?} Truthfully, I don't like to eat immediately after a run. The only things I want for the first 30 minutes after is water or fruit. I don't want anything that will make me more thirsty.
What race & when? Seattle Rock 'n Roll Marathon June 21st
AW's this week? Ran an amazing 16miler with a friend, and as a rookie, my longest run to date
Any setbacks? None this week other than my work schedule interferes with some of the longer mid week runs, which worries me a bit.
What's your favorite type of run (tempo, repeats, long, hills, etc)? I would have to say long runs. I really enjoy a steady pace and taking in everything around me.
What do you like to eat right after a long run? {I feel like we talk about pre-run eats a lot, but how do you refuel/recover after?}. Though I'm hungry I've noticed that nothing sounds good for a solid hour or so afterward. I usually drink some electrolytes and the make sure I eat some solid protein and carbs a bit later.
