I got a little budget journal from Staples, it was $5 and it fits in my purse so I can add my purchases in there while I'm out. I use different color pens for different types of expenses.

In addition to your GED work, I really think you should enroll in some basic computer skills classes. I think most bases have them for free. To be employable in the future, you really should have at least a basic understanding of word, excel, and powerpoint. If I asked you about excel in an interview, and you asked what it was, I'm sorry but I'd be struggling to contain laughter. Even if it wasn't an essential part of the job, it would create a really negative impression.
