I know we love to debate the merits of the thank you note, so what do you think of this?
We went to a friend's wedding reception back in February. They had the small ceremony in Hawaii back in Oct. 2011, a party when they got home, and a " reception" in February. We sent a gift to their house the week of the reception, as well as a small gift last October after they returned from their actual ceremony. Just today I received a computerized thank you. Not personalized with our names, or signed by the couple. Tacky? Or no?
At least when you don't receive one at all, you can pretend that it got lost in the mail...or they were so swamped with hand writing hundreds of notes. At least that's what I like to think.
Yep tacky. We all know writing thank you cards isn't fun, but those people took the time to go pick out a gift for you. The least they deserve is a handwritten thank you. I banged my wedding thank yous out in a couple of days in front of the tv.

Eh, I don't think a computerize thank you alone is that big of a deal. I have friends that are super green and all their invites are always on the computer because they don't want to create extra trash. However, I think it is bad that it wasn't personalized. Like if they sent an email to each of their guests thanking them personally for their gift, that would have been fine IMO.
Very tacky, but better than an email ty or the god-awful, completely classless fb message thank you (yep, my husband got one of these for a baby shower gift that I sent!!)
