Hoping someone can help calm my fears....I ran my second half marathon on Saturday....during the race everything was fine....a couple hours after my left foot was really painful to walk on. I haven't gone to the doctor yet, but it sure looks like plantar fasciitis. I have been icing, resting and doing stretches. I'm already worried about not being able to exercise and therefore gaining weight. Please tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel? Thank you

I've had PF twice. Both times, it got worse gradually. It wasn't a sudden, acute thing. If your pain started suddenly, I wonder if it's something else.
The things that helped me the most were reducing mileage and stretching my calves really well.

Ummm ... I am just coming off six weeks of rest because of PF. I agree with pp, it's not a sudden onset. Stretch, ice, get one of those nubby ball things to help massage it. Get checked out. GL!
So, I had the exact same thing happen to me after my half in January. It was just super irritated fascia (I had several appointments with the podiatrist to manage this). 800 mg of Motrin, change of shoes and gave my foot a break (added more stretching and no running for three weeks-but kept biking and elliptical). For the most part this resolved the issue but if I don't stretch the tissue can get reinflamed. I hope this helps!
