Hey Guys, I just realized that there wasn't a Hump Day Half Check-In yet! Let's leave today's check-in conversational style. How was your week? How was your training? Do you have a race day outfit picked out yet?
I'm really excited about all the half-marathoners racing this weekend! Forecast is looking good for the midwest region.
I had a pretty solid week of training this week. I did a 14-mile long run on the treadmill on Saturday, which sucked but was better than fighting the horrific winds outside. I'm still experimenting around with different outfits for race day. I'm struggling with finding the best running shorts for my body type.
Hope everyone else's week and training is going well!

I'm so excited for the weekend! So far, my week has been good - short run yesterday (pushed inside to the track though due to cold, rainy weather) and another shortie on Thursday then I'm ready to rock!
My race day outfit will consist of Athleta Be Free capris, compression socks and this tee (Pittsburgh girls will appreciate it). I also got a black and gold sparkly soul headband.
Although, I did wear my new Pulse 2:1 shorts yesterday and they were super comfy but I am kind of wary on wearing something I haven't worn on a longer run yet...
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

My check-in ... Everyone keeps asking me if I'm ready. I don't know how to answer that, so I just keep saying, "As ready as I can be, I guess." This makes me nervous.
And the weather in NC this week has been really crappy -- this morning, for instance, the county I work in had a tornado warning at 5:15 -- so I haven't been able to do too much running. I'm hoping for a short one tomorrow and a short one on Friday, just to get my legs moving.
Basically though ... nervous. Kind of excited. Really looking forward to getting there and getting it finished.
So mine isn't till Memorial day weekend but I'll check in. I'm getting so nervous to be honest, tomorrow is May and then I will be able to say my race is this month and thats so scary! I kept feeling like I have plenty of time, etc. My training is going fairly well but I am anxious to see how my long run goes Saturday. I got a race outfit that the a percentage go to the Susan G. Komen foundation so they are pink shorts with the breast cancer ribbon and a matching pink shirt, I will be easy to spot
Training is going well. This week is a much-needed recovery week after 2 build weeks. Whew.
Race day outfit? Not yet. On my run-heavy brick on Sunday I tried out a new tri kit. It is super cute. I like a lot of things about it, but I'm not sure if it's "it" for race day.
I'm angry at myself for racing my races last weekend. I pushed too hard and I'm still freaking sore, especially in my hips. Did a quick 3 today and it didn't hurt but my legs just feel tired. Spent another half hour just stretching. Might take the rest of the week off and just stretch a ton.
Otherwise, I'm excited. Every once in awhile I'll get a nervous drop in my stomach. But this is my second half and I feel pretty good about my training. I just hope I don't crap out day of.
Not sure what pants I'm going to wear (capris or Bermudas) but wearing a tank and sleeves on top.

This is how I feel! My training this year has far exceeded what I did last year so I feel so breezy about it. And it's such a fun race with awesome support the entire course!

Mine's only a 10 miler, but I'm not sure I'll make it. I'm still having occasional groin twinges despite taking the last 4 days off. I'll give it a try but may bail after a few miles if I start hurting.
Sister and I got matching oiselle tanks for the run though, so that's always fun!
I fly Friday night, surprise my mom at the spa, race with my sis on Sunday and fly home Sunday night. It'll be a whirlwind!

I'll be the one in the bright pink compression socks!

My race isn't until May 18th - 2nd half. Overall training has gone pretty well especially since I took a full two weeks off mid-training plan while I was in Italy. However this week has sucked really hard with the rain and one really bad run. I have a duathelon this weekend which I am excited about, hopefully weather cooperates as I've only gotten the road bike out once this year.
Outfit- nothing planned yet too far out to have any idea what the conditions will be.
Race is Saturday, Cap City HM. I am (finally) all ZOMG YAY RACE EXCITED even though I'm pacing and not racing.
Training has been about as good as it can be when running 1-2x/week. I call it the "DO NOT do what I'm doing" plan. I've had long runs of 10 miles and 13.1 (my running buddy that day has an odd sense of humor) so I know my legs can handle it, despite the overall lack of mileage.
Outfit will be gray Athleta Record Time shorts, purple and white pacer singlet with black tank under to hold some of my remaining postbaby jiggle in, and white knee socks as arm warmers. I plan on painting my fingers and toes to match my singlet (just something fun I like to do, plus the color was on sale at Target).

Ohhhh guys it is so soon!! Training has been going pretty well except for the knee pain from this week's 12-miler. I went out for an easy 2 yesterday and pilates this morning. It's starting to feel better so hopefully recovery continues over the next few days.
I have my outfit planned in my head - purple tank and black knickers from Target. Maybe I'll gather my race stuff tonight to make sure I've got my breakfast packed (cheerios, almond butter, banana) and all of my other supplies. Forecast is a low of 46 that day so throw away sock arm warmers would probably be a good idea.
I am SUPER excited about post-race brunch - I have brunch reservations at Volt (by Brian Voltaggio of Top Chef fame)! This will be a combo celebratory post-race meal as well as DH's birthday meal. His birthday is the 12th but I am leaving next Thursday for China.

It's taper week and I'm going crazy. Everything aches a little and my short run so far this week was not confidence building. Oh well, I've been through this before and know it will all be fine come race day.
As far as what to wear, I have some options in mind but I will wait until I see the weather report on Friday before I pack up my race day outfit. I did try out my new Hana 2 in 1 shorts from Athleta that someone recently recommended and they passed the chafe test--so I have a new option if it decides to be warm come Sunday.

Good luck to all those racing this weekend!!
I just wanted to let you know that I did my HM last weekend. I trained really hard for this race. More than I have for any of the previous 5 I've done. My A goal was to hit under 2:30 (previous PR was 2:45). And I did it. 2:29:xx!! Apparently there really is something to sticking with a training plan
Anyways, you girls have been super fun and helpful the past few months, so I just wanted to give you an update and say thanks! I'll see you again in a couple months when fall training starts.

Yeahhh girl! Your pace is similar to mine. My A goal is 2:30 but realistically I think I will be around 2:40. Hope to see you back here soon!

What's your H&F plan for the summer?
I do really well with running 4 times a week (2 young kids and dh travels every week so timing is key). I am going to use the next two months to work on getting faster. Keeping 3 midweek runs to 3-4 miles and then doing a long run on the weekend of 6-8. My next half is in early October so training starts in July.
I'd love to get my long run pace to around 10-10:30 so that's going to be my focus for now.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!
I don't really have any updates because my next half isn't until October. However, I am now registered for 3 half marathons in 8 weeks (Oct, Nov and Dec). Barf.
