We are looking at high chairs. I found one that I like on sale for $29.99 even the regular priced of $50 is good. However, they only havepink in stock. We have a girl, but IF we have another, it could be a boy. What do you think? Save money and take a chance and buy pink? Or pay more, get a slightly different brand and get a neutral colour. I dont really want to wait. She needs a chair now
I just feel like my hypothetical son is pulling the short straw. We already have a pink bathtub, pink sheets, pink changing table cover. I know babies dont know but in pics, he will be surrounded by pink. I know it doesnt matter. I just wish people didnt feel the need to get so much girly stuff for Layla. Then again, for $30, we can buy another one.
I'd just get the pink and call it a day. IF you have a son, you can decide what to do at that point. If we were talking about a pricey highchair, my answer would be different. All of our pricey babygear items are neutral but the little/cheaper stuff is all girly.
I would buy neutral. I have 2 boys FWIW. You don't even need a high chair till the kid is at least 6 months old. Just wait for another chair to go on sale.
Sorry - I just saw it sounds like you already have a child, not pg?
I wouldn't want a giant pink anything in my kitchen...... Girl or boy, huge pink plastic is fug.
$30 is cheap enough to buy a second for the boy in the future. Our high chair got so gross after DD1 that I just wanted to chuck it and get a new one. But it was a gift from my in-laws and was over $150 I think.
I almost always buy gender neutral for big things - well now that DD2 is a girl, too, I do buy the "girlier" option if I like it better. However, I am cheap, so I'd likely buy the pink high chair to save more money. I wouldn't think twice about putting a boy in any pink gear. I'd only not put him in pink clothes (but pink PJs would be okay!).
Would you have the same issue if your child was a boy and we were talking about a blue high chair and future girl babies?
No because blue is neutral. Pink is for girls. Maybe that is sad, but it is reality. I doubt it will change in the next 2-3 yrs. However, if my child was old enough andchose pink, I would be fine with it.
I think I will buy it since it is cheap and we might switch to a regular highchair next time (this is a strap to the chair type)
We had a similar seat (ours has a toy tray that sits on the regular tray too) and it worked great. We used it from 6 months to 2 years.
To the original question, we bought mostly neutral things, except for the car seat. Carter would have ridden in a pink car seat - wouldn't have bothered me.

this is how I feel - i wouldn't want anything big and a color that didn't blend in with my house in some way... girl or boy. I can't stand big huge plastic bright colored things, etc. I'd buy something neutral- at consignment or a yard sale if i couldn't afford new.

We have a high chair with flowers on it, a matching bouncer, a pink bumbo and lots of other pink/girlie stuff. If we have a boy, the stuff will still work just as well for him. And I could care less that in pictures, he'll be in girl stuff.
Id get the pink. We bought a neutral high chair but had to replace the cover with the second because it was so terribly stained. We got one at bru for $10 or so. Buy the cheap chair & get a cover if needed for #2

I would not want too much pink, even if we never have a boy. I don't know if we really own anything pink for DD besides clothes. So I would go neutral or at least purple over pink.

Everything worked out. In store, they had the blue one. On sale. No delivery charges. And it was just a pink cover. It isnt a high chair, it is a strap-on seat with a tray. We have no space for a high chair and we dont eat at a table. (we dont have a dining table).
