How many days would you suggest (on the ground) for a trip to Tunisia?
I'm tossing around the idea for this coming fall, during low season, as a chance to escape the dark. Would 7 full days be enough? Alternatively, we could go over the Christmas/New Year's holidays and have 10 or 14 days.
ETA - Would you recommend working with a travel agency or arranging hotels and transportation ourselves?
7 days would be enough. If you are going in winter, I'm not sure if it will be hot enough for the beach (but I need it roasting for the beach so my opinion may be complexity off!) but you could do he main highlights in a week,
I went a good few years ago and did a cheap package deal as that was the easiest way to do it.
Where would you recommend visiting? I definitely want to visit Matmata and am thinking of Douz.
I lived in Tunisia for 2 years 1979-1981. One year it snowed at Christmas so it definitely would be too cold for the beach. There are a ton of sights to see Carthage for one. The souks are amazing.
Not really interested in the beach anyway, so that wasn't even on our radar. The info I've seen puts the temperatures around 10C in December, which is comfortable.
