Sorry this is my second tapering question. How many days of rest do you take before your race? My half is on a Sunday, I was planning on rest Friday and Saturday. Too much? Too little?
I'm running 2 very easy miles today, then resting until the race. Usually I rest 2 days but this training schedule called for 2 the day before the race (no!) so I shifted it a day.

If I were racing on a Sunday, I would do 2-3 very easy miles on Wednesday or Thursday. Take Friday completely off, then 2-3 very easy miles on Saturday.
I like two days off before a big race. Rest days especially if they are on the weekend are never really that restful since we're always doing something with the kids.
Usually I take one very serious and horizontal rest day before the race, usually two days out, and then do something very light to shake out my legs (brisk walk, etc) the day before the race. Otherwise I find that I'm way too stiff at the start line and it takes a lot longer for me to warm up. Depending if I'm trying to PR or not I don't want those warm up miles to be in my race!
This is what I do. Although I don't think it matters what you do. I think that shake out run is as much mental as physical

Like a light shake out up and down a mountain, piece of cake

Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I do a light run 2 days out and take the day before off. You'd be fine either way, of course. For me, I'm usually going to race pick up the day before and it is easier to just take the day off. In Boston I walked way too damn much the day before, but I don't regret a thing! We had fun exploring.
For anything shorter than a marathon I do a warm up the day of, so a shake out run is unnecessary.
