I'm trying to get healthy again and drop some weight. I have been doing WW for awhile and it works well for me (when I follow it!!) but at $50 a month it got to be too much money. So my subscription ended in April. Now I want to try MFP but just as I look around the website tonight and get myself used to things I'm having a hard time mentally switching. On WW fruits and veggies were free (0 points) so those were my go to snacks as I knew they didn't cost me anything. MFP counts the calories in those. Little things like that I forsee bring hard to switch. Anyone do this switch successfully?

I can't say I've done it successfully, but I have made the switch. I think MFP helps you be more balanced. You could eat a whole pineapple on WW, so you kind of trick yourself into thinking it's good for you. I think MFP has helped me eat more veggies because those are low in calories vs. fruit, even though they both were 0 PP+ on WW.

I found that one was one of the reasons I wasn't losing as much as I should've at WW. I lost the bulk of my weight (About 20 lbs) on WW and then couldn't lose that last 2-5 lbs. I've now lost them on MFP. I think MFP makes you look at the entire situation, so yes there are times I go or 2 cookies instead of a piece of fruit but back on WW I probably would've had both. I think it should be relatively simple as you are still tracking everything that you eat. Apply your habits/techniques from WW and you'll be successful on MFP.
Thanks for this question!! I have been struggling with this. I lost quite a bit of weight on WW. Started running and cycling more but also gained weight. I got a FitBit and linked it to MFP. I have been using it for the past 3 weeks. No real weight loss but I keep being up and down with it. I ran today and had a banana. I tracked it for 100 calories and my mind immediately went to "well it is free with WW!". But I think it will have me look at my food intake differently. We will see. Good luck!
I've never done WW but I understand about the points system thingy. What I never realised was that things like pineapple have zero points in WW! What? Pineapple, while a fruit has calories / sugar etc. Why would WW encourage people to stuff themselves on such things believing that they don't even count? Everything counts. Wow.
