We have a rectangular table with two benches and a chair on each end. We really like it. We can squeeze a lot of people around it when we have to. When the boys were small we had the strap on booster on the chair which worked out well.
I would get the chairs just to have them. They are also nice to have for older people who aren't comfortable swinging a leg over the bench.

I agree with all of this. The chairs will be good long-term investment.

Can you put the chairs somewhere else until you need them? A corner of the room, in a hallway, etc? ETA: We have two random extra chairs from an old dining set. One is in the family room next to our entertainment center and the other is in the office as extra seating.
You will probably want your LO to use the chairs for a while. All three of our boys have fallen off the benches at one time or another. Kids younger than three will be more likely to lean back too far or fall off the edge.
Yeah I would not have trusted DS on a bench until about 2.5. I would get the chairs. I agree with keeping them in another room while not in use if possible. I like your table!
Or get some other chairs if the matching ones aren't comfortable. That table and bench are simple enough that I think you could find a pair of chairs that would work.
