All my leg muscles have decided to quit on me. I'm hobbling around and really can't move.
My question is this - Do I go to my Cross Train class and take it lightly so I can get my muscles moving again? (I'm dreading even just walking over to the place which is about 2 blocks from work.) Or do I skip today?
I always do some sort of activity the day after a race - so whether it is walking or yoga, any movement works for me. You could walk at lunch and see how you feel and take it lightly tonight if you feel okay?
I would do something, for sure. The trainer for your class is pretty good, and the group isn't huge, right? I would maybe go over there and tell him how sore you are, and have him suggest something for you.

Yeah, it's a small class. unghhhh...
Plus, you wanted to tell him about how awesome you did!
I am not smart. Like, at all. I went to class, and I told the trainer my situation. He said, "Oh, that's ok, we're not doing a lot of leg work today." The fucker LIED to me.
We start class with a 10 minute full court (we have class in a gym) rugby like game that we play with a medicine ball. My legs protested at first, then loosened up. They felt good.
Then we hit abs (10 bosu slow sit-ups, 10 leg lifts, 10 bosu crunches, 10 leg lifts, 10 bosu crunches, 10 leg lifts). Again, no problem.
"Alright, now we're going to do 30 jump lunges." What? No. What?! Dammit. Ok, I can do this. 30 lunges done. "Sprint down the court and do 20 jump squats." Fuuuuuuuck. "Sprint down the court and do 10 burpees." Oh, just shut up. Done. "Since you all did so well, let's do it again!" My legs gave out at 5 burpees on that round. They seriously refused to retract back to my chest to stand up. I stayed in child's pose until everyone was done.
Next section was 20 kettle bell swings (ow squats), 10 shoulder press each side (yay no legs!), 5 each side turkish getups (ow legs), 3 wall walks (which I usually hate, but HEY no legs), 10 wall balls (ow squats), 20 floor slams (ow jumping). AND WE DID THAT TWICE!
Final round was rope slams, farmers walk (which I did a quarter of my normal weight), hammer swings, and tire flips (again legs ow). 1 min each round, and then another set 30 seconds long.
So, my legs now hurt a lot. The rest of me hates myself too. Tomorrow is going to be a true rest day.

So yeah, I also went to class. I did skip the lap of the track (which involved climbing a flight of stairs to the track, and no that was not happening) but did involve lunges. Fortunately the rest was mostly abs and upper body. But the instructor did call me crazy.

Wow pixy0stix and @sessalee you are awesome! I was just coming here to ask how that my half is over, what the heck do I do now??
I had two offsite meetings that I walked to. For the second one I asked my boss to please walk slower please pleeeeease and he refused to break his brisk pace. Can't be late to the White House! (fine.)
My left leg hurts more than my right leg (left knee pain persists) so I've got a bit of a limp going on. Battle wounds!

You'll heal and figure out the next goal. I'm throwing myself into CrossFit and weight loss this summer, half training again in the fall.

I think my next goals are to dust off the bike, keep on with yoga once a week and maybe just maybe start going to DC's November project workouts if I can figure out the logistics.
My next goal is to navigate the stairs without pain.
Damn stairs.
Yeah I've just been, like, standing at the top of them staring down thinking if I REALLY have to go down. At the gym the locker rooms are at the top of the stairs, I strongly considered the elevator after my workout.

I may be the odd man out but I love that after race soreness! Makes me feel like I left it all out there on the course
I do too! That's another reason why I love the long distances so much more than the shorter ones. Well, that, and the fact that I can scarf down a burger & 3 beers, and still be in a huge calorie deficit. With a 5k, I'm caught up on my calories after the first finish line banana.
