What did you think of the human hamster wheel from Ukraine?

I was busy yesterday, so I just got around to watching it.

I had a lot of deja vu:

I was less phased by Ukraine's hamster wheel than by the lyrics that kept making think of "Drip Drop," and the pop girl's clock that's wound with love is too much like the secret combination that unlocks a bouncy pop girl's heart.

Also, Estonia was completely a blonde Loreen with those dance moves and that hair.

Other thoughts:

Moldova made me think of an older Daenerys Targaryen dancing around with her Dothraki.

Albania's song took way too long to bring in the heavy electric guitar. From that point on I quite liked it, and it reminded me a lot of Nightwish (obscure power metal group). ...Come to think of it, Nightwish would be awesome Eurovision fodder if they weren't Finnish (too much Lordi legacy).

Azerbaijan bored me to tears. I'm so disappointed to have to sit through it again in the final. I will plan a bathroom trip at that point.

Haven't watched anything but I'm rooting for my girl Ilse de Lange with the Common Linnets for the Netherlands. Their iTunes downloads for the song Calm after the Strorm are very promising and I hope they do well. I haven't heard any of the other songs though.

I just saw the Irish entry just now. She didn't do too badly (though her dress didn't fit well!)

It seems that quite a few countries have a pretty woman singing and one or more males doing a silly dance around her... Ireland, Ukraine, the one 2 before Ireland... Any more?

I haven't watched any semi-finals. DH likes it to be a surprise. That being said, I'm on my way to Copenhagen today for the final! So excited to be able to be there live! I hope my seats are good...

This was the first year I watched it. My gosh, I loved it!

It was a rather predictable final winner I thought. I loved Montenegro and Iceland. I didn't like the final song, though I had a bit of an argument with DH over whether disliking the song/performance was a judgment on the performer and/or the performer's lifestyle choices. I say it's not. He says it may be.

I found it hilarious that France finished with 2 total points -- one of the French performers was channelling Jedward I'm sure.

But I really, really enjoyed the creativity with the flag postcards. Those were great, though I think Italy took the lamest, most obvious route to create theirs.

Yeah, I loved the flag thing! Really simple idea but effective and way better than the usual intros. Didn't see the Italian one though.

The French were really not deserving of those 2 points! The song was awful! Who even thinks about singing about wanting a moustache?!?

It was a predictable winner alright. As soon as I saw they got through to the final I said they were trying to copy Israel from a few years ago. Turns out I was right!

But I have a confession.... I didn't watch any of the final!! I know, shock horror!! :-o (we watched Her instead)
