boy is 6.5 mos, and we started solids on sunday night. we are doing BLW and let him have some strips of sweet potato....he was not as interested as i thought he would be. he had readily been leaning in for food, but when we had the sweet potatoes in front of him, he just sorta chilled..squeezed them in his hand a bit. if we picked it up and held it toward him, he would lean in, but wouldn't try much more than a little lean..
he's definitely crawling now. i was sort of in denial by calling it army crawling, but it's just really slow, real crawls now. he gets to where he wants, and there's intention in his movement. and i was right (yay!) now that he's mobile, he's a lot happier on the floor. i'm getting more cooking/cleaning done, and it's kinda awesome. i can set him down for 15 mins at a time to let him crawl/explore before he starts to feel lonely (as opposed to 30 seconds, before).
bjl--26 months. not a whole lot new.. she says some really cute phrases, especially when she's trying to not-share with her brother, she'll say "brother, don't look!". she won't even let him look at her toys. it's cute/sad.
Attachment Deleted here's a pic from yesterday...we took the kids to chuck e.cheese. it was the boys first time
I started giving E meat baby food about a week ago. He seems to like it. And I grabbed a bunch of new things to try. jennlin, I started w/ some BLW w/ E and he liked to play w/ the food, but he really didn't eat much. Even now if I give him any real food, he likes to play with it and put it in his mouth, but he doesn't really eat much. He does much better w/ purees. So, I give him purees mostly and some real food to play/practice with.
I don't think there is much new. E still isn't "crawling," but he's sooooo close. He can get around by scooting and rolling, he can get from sitting to crawling position and back again, and he moves his arms to crawl, but he still doesn't have moving his knees quite figured out. He's favorite destinations are sharp edges of the coffee table and end table and any cords. He's very verbal. He's sleeping in his own crib pretty well, but still wakes up for a bottle or two during his 12 hour stretch. Oh, he's rolling A LOT more. In his crib, on his changing table (yikes!), on the floor. I guess he suddenly decided rolling was worth doing. He can hold himself up standing by hanging on to the couch for a while, but he still isn't pulling himself up to stand. He does pull himself up to his knees though. And he's getting a little better at picking up small things, like puffs, but he doesn't really have the pincer grasp down. He definitely knows he name and responds to it.
My biggest annoyances now are that I now he can understand some things, but when I tell him no or use a stern voice, or even swat his hand, he giggles uncontrollably and does whatever he was doing again. I find that staring him down sort of works. The other thing is that he thinks doing the raspberry thing with his lips and spitting his food everywhere is pretty much the funniest thing. And it pisses me off, but it's also really hard not to laugh. He's gonna be trouble!

Taken on Monday at 27 weeks, 2 days. My mom told me to "snark" at her, so this is the face I made.
Biggest milestone this week: Dan was finally able to feel her kick last night! He keeps missing it because she's either lazy or coy (I can't decide). But she got all excited right before bed and I made him keep his hand on my tummy until he was sure he felt something.
ETA: alias I really miss pictures of E Would you be willing to FB friend me so I can ogle your baby?
This weekend I went to a friend's shower, she's about 3 weeks behind me. Everyone who sees our picture together guesses she is having a boy and I'm having a girl. Except she knows she's having a girl so it's cracking me up. Milestone...baby hiccups! I haven't felt or maybe recognized hiccups until this morning at my meeting. I actually laughed out loud when I figured it out. Brought some entertainment to an otherwise blah meeting I took a pic this am since it's picture day at school and I actually look nice - ish so I'll post it tonight!
Oooo Oooooo me too? I promise I am out of the skin suit business.
The fake that you felt you needed to make this disclaimer worries me...you doth protest too much. Not to mention, you admit you used to make skin suits. I don't know about you.

Well, I'd post a picture, but I am death warmed over right now. I may be showered. but I look (and feel) like shit. And, now M has some sort of cold virus that we're fighting. She's had a temp as high as 102 that I gave her ibuprofen for last night and once today. She has a stuffy nose and a raspy voice (and I hate to say it, but a raspy toddler voice is super cute, haha). She complains that her ear hurts when I take her temperature, but doesn't mention it otherwise. I hope it passes without needing antibiotics or going to the ER for dehydration like the last time she was sick. At least she understands now when we tell her she needs to drink more water and rest.
I hate saying this, but I'm sort of glad we're sick because this means we don't have to go to Bellingham tomorrow to spend the weekend there. I get my family all to myself on Mother's Day and I don't have to share anyone with my ILs. Yes, I'm being that person.
