I have a lot of goals, some are reasonable, some are lofty, and some are way out there.
- Break 21 minutes in the 5k (this is a way out there goal)
- This is the inaugural year for a local marathon/half marathon, I would LOVE to run the half each year and be one of those people 20 years down the road that can say I've run ALL of them
::rubbing my hands together with a scheming smile:: ohh the many low traffic, huge shouldered highways and multiuse trails - ABQ might just be the place to get comfy on a road bike
With all the IMTX talk, I thought you were already one of the Houston area ladies. Didn't realize you were in NM. :::smacks head::: Where have I been?

Short term goals (in the next 2 years): Sub-4 hour marathon Sub-1:50 half marathon Sub-24 min 5k Take some swim lessons and become a better swimmer Get comfortable riding a bike
Long term goals: BQ and run Boston Do a triathlon (at least a sprint distance)
Like a few others, I have a fear of cycling. I tried to borrow a friend's road bike last year and I never felt comfortable on it. I may need to start with a hybrid.

That settles it. You have to move to Atlanta now.
Oh my goodness - we might have been confused talking about switching places with our H's new jobs (potential for me, of course). Ha!
Apparently i'm going w/5, but i may need to re-assess.
Ima tryin'!
I am actually meeting with the Dr next week because it has been 7 months and I am getting panicky and stressed and scared and sad. Hopefully soon though!

FWIW, my bike's status as a hybrid vs. road bike did not help at all when I bounced off my head after flying 20ish feet when the truck clipped me.
This is the main thing that keeps me off of serious biking. I'm comfortable enough on a bike. We're one of the top areas for offenders of distracted driving, and I just don't trust people. I've had too many close calls just running, but at least then, I'm going against traffic, so I can see them & protect myself. We've had quite a few bike IM-in training deaths in the last few years.
I love this. For some reason I feel like a whole new world of goals are emerging & we're getting to "know" everyone even better.
Right now, I'm stuck on this sub - 4:00 marathon I hope to run. Tomorrow.
A BQ is definitely on my goal list.
Triathlon, I feel like I should want to do. But I'm nervous about the time, money, and my lack of any pool nearby. I'm a tad more comfortable on a bike after last summer, but now this year I haven't had it out yet. At all.
I want to have a kid(s) at some point. I would say before I'm 30, but that doesn't look very likely anymore. I find it inspiring that you, runblondie26, are thinking about another when you've got a 6 month old. That gives me hope that 2nd & 3rd babies are less stressful than 1st babies seem to be.

thom Going from no kids to one was a huge adjustment. HUGE. Hence, the big age gap between the two.
There are so many H&F ladies here that are doing it gracefully though, so don't be nervous. It's worth it.
Don't want to jinx myself, but DS has been so mellow and easy. Plus, there's less anxiety on my part since this ain't my first rodeo Talk to me once we we each the toddler stage. He might just be conning me into another sibling right now

Eight week goal goal is deliver this boy happily and safely. Eight weeks after his birth the fall season at the velodrome kicks off and my goal is to be back on my bike racing then. Not necessarily competing, I'm not that delusional, but racing. Ten weeks after he is born is the Omnium at our track. It's a two day event and it's a point earning event. I'd like to not completely suck so I could earn our race team some points for the year but, I just don't know how I'll be.
Mid term goal (or after track season) is weight loss and strength gain. I'm proud of the fact that even though I've put on more weight than I wanted this pregnancy, I'm still under my "starting" weight that I use for the weight I lost after DD#2 was born (does that make sense?) But I know I'm going to have to lose the baby weight and then I'll still have 20-30 lbs that I'd like to never see again.
One year goal, I really really really want to be rider of the year at our track for Cat 4 women next year. We have had a bunch of super fast 16 year olds come out this year and they scare me, lol, but that's my goal for race season next year.
I've lost my love of running but I think I'd like to find it again. I love @kirkette 's idea of 12 5Ks in a year and may have to steal that. I'd like to get back in the pool and keep up enough of a swim base that I could enter sprint tri's on a whim. Right now, there's no desire to do anything longer than a sprint though.
My kids have fallen in love with trail "running" recently and I'd like to start exploring some more trails with them. I have zero desire to go run a road marathon but I really, really, really, maybe before I'm 40, want to do a 50K trail race.
Short term for this year: - Setting a new marathon PR. I've got 2 chances at that over the next 6 months. - Get pregnant. This has been a goal for a long time. We're doing IVF this fall, so we'll see.
Long term: -Sub 4 marathon - BQ - relay like Hood to Coast - run a marathon in all 50 states.

(heart) If you do, I will come out and run a 5k with you. We'd just have to coordinate the month. My sister and her family moved to Houston (The city name is Spring, I believe) in March. So, we know we'll be visiting Houston a few times a year. Sincerely, Enabler

Let's see...
I want to run a 5k without stopping to walk. I want to finish a 5k in under 40 minutes. I want to run my first half marathon. I want to finish a half marathon in under 3 hours.
I know I have more, I just can't think of them right now.
I love @kirkette 's idea of 12 5Ks in a year and may have to steal that.
I agree! I was thinking last night about all the amazing goals people have been putting out there , but for some reason this 12 5Ks in a year just struck me as being a super cool goal. I might have to steal it too!
I have my heart set on running Big Sur next year, but I think they are changing it to a lottery this year (kicks dirt) so I can't be sure I'll get in. If I don't I need something else really fun to keep up my base without being too much of a stretch (read: so I won't injure myself) while I wait for the universe to bring me back El Sur Grande. This might just be the ticket.
Get rid of the last 15lbs I have been carrying around, I have lost almost 80.
So after I have a few races under my belt I will start worrying about time. I did my first 5K at the end of last year, my first 10K a few weeks ago and my first 1/2 marathon is in two weeks. I just want to finish the 1/2 without doing any walking. I have another half in October and I will try to beat my first 1/2 time since I will know a little more about what I am doing.
I would also like to be pg by year's end, so my goals are pretty small.
Stretch: 1:50 HM one day....when I have time to really train again. I have decided that I will only do another half if I can dedicate time to my training. I'm sick of crossing the finish line and not being happy with my time.
Minor: consistent sub 25:00 5K times (when the weather cooperates) Minor: finish NROWLFW Minor: find a new fitness class that I love. Unfortunately there is not a lot of options around here that work with my schedule...this is a goal that may not be fulfilled until we relocate.

25 minute 5K (PR 26:58) 50 minute 10K (PR 58:25) Sub 2-hr half marathon (PR 2:07) Some day .....an ultra...but oddly have no interest in a marathon.....guess I'm an odd duck :-) Participate in another duathlon (have only done 1 but loved it)

I bet a marathon would sound pretty damn good at mile 26.2 of that ultra.
Paddleboard Take a yoga class Find with and stick to a strength train routine
Run a sub 3 hour half marathon (I'm slow!) Do another sprint triathlon. I was so naïve for my first one that it was great but know it could be better Do a century ride with DH
Maybe, someday, possibly do a trail race Mountain bike with DH again

For 2014: Break back into sub-30 for 5Ks Sub-5:00 in my first marathon (not shooting for the sky here, guys!) Build Strength/Improve Body Composition - get to a comfortable place weight-wise before marathon training.
For 2015: Survive another marathon Join Cross-fit and give running a break
Long-term, Crazy Goal - Ironman...this will take a lot of work!

Ha! DS did the opposite. He came out screaming, "I will not be a middle child." After 2 years with him, DH said he'll no to #3. ?

2014: -keep losing baby weight (20-30 lbs) and -re-build my running base because... -sub-5:00 in MCM (deferred last year due to babe) -build muscle
2015-2016+: -more babieeess -keep running/in shape -at least 1 half every year, preferably 2-3 -another full with better training (ie not 8 months after giving birth) to see how I can do, hopefully sub 4:30 someday -try a triathlon or two
Stretch: -I would love to do an ironman but that makes me lol even at myself. We'll see..
