I'm seeing more and more people wearing compression calf sleeves (as opposed to compression socks) on runs. I did my long run on Friday night in compression socks and they rubbed a blister on my big toe. I'm thinking about trying calf sleeves instead. What brand do you have? Where did you purchase them? Anything specific I need to look for?
I have Zensah sleeves & really like them. I also have 1 pair of compression socks CEP. I thought they'd be better, but they get more uncomfortable toward the end and are longer so they rub behind the backs of my knees.
I don't always wear compression for long runs, but I did for this marathon because I'd been having a twingey shin issue. I also feel like for a cold race start, it's nice to keep your calf muscles warm.
Long story short, sleeves just feel more comfortable to me! Plus. Then you can wear your own favorite socks,

I love Balega socks and I'm thinking that sleeves really are the right answer for me. I really like wearing compression - it's like little hugs for my calves. I love having warm calves - I know I'm a freak! I'd much rather have warm legs and cold arms than the other way around.
I have CEP socks and sleeves. I've raced with them before, but most times I just wear them post run. If I were to race with them, I'd wear the sleeves and my Balega socks. If I run another downhill race I will be wearing compression sleeves for sure. Calf cramps are no joke.
