I sent DH to the store to buy our pup dog food - he comes back with Blue Buffalo healthy weight food, for overweight dogs. I guess he didn't read the label. We switch the pup's brand/type of food a lot to keep things interesting.
So here's the issue. Our pup is not overweight in the slightest. I compared the protein & fat % to other BB foods. This one has almost half the fat and half the protein of other BB foods. Should we double or nearly double his portion size? WWYD?
DH wants to chuck it, but I'm having a hard time throwing away $50 worth of food. Maybe we could buy another bag and mix them?
Exactly? Why can't you bring it back? $50 is a lot to waste.
Regarding doubling the portions, would that really work? While the protein & fat may be half of the other brands, what about the carbs? If it's not 100% half of what he's used to, then doubling it would end up being overfeeding.
Yeah, I don't think I would truly double - maybe give 50% more?
I don't think we can return it b/c DH already dumped it into our bin and tossed the bag.
Oh no! That is such a guy thing to do. Well in that case, then perhaps you can call your vet and ask for their suggestion? This can't be the first time someone has made that mistake before.
