Watching runners go by when on the injured list is torture. I can't wait to get back out there - there really is nothing like that feeling of starting out on a nice morning run, especially now that morning runs are not cold and dark. Sigh.
I feel your pain! I did the same thing while injured. My DH was finally like,(while driving down our street full of runners) "Are you watching their foot strike?" Yes, DH, I am.

I'm with you. I've been out for a week today with a stress fracture in my foot and it's torture! I had so many plans for the spring racing season, I had made so much progress and now I'm afraid it's all gone.
I find that watching runners is torture but I highly recommend finding a local race and volunteering at an aid station or something. That turns something that is torture to something that is so rewarding! I had so much fun doing this when I was injured and it was nice to give back.
Ugh I know! I'm not really injured (at least that's what I'm telling myself) but on my way to cross train this morning I was jealous of all the runners that were out!
I felt that way for a little while, but after that it wasn't worth wallowing in it. I made it a point to actively seek out something else to throw myself into when I had my stress fx. It was a lot more enjoyable than sulking over not being able to run. By the time I could run again I had a brand newly renovated bathroom! (DIY)
I've been trying to think about what I could compete in: aqua jogging race? Speed walking runblondie26? stair climbing race? racing kids down the hall without running?

I second this. I volunteered at one race and cheered at another while I was hurt. It was tough watching everyone run, but it gave me a new appreciation for the volunteers.

This is a fantastic idea! I was particularly bummed to not be able to do my home town half marathon June 1, why did it never occur to me to volunteer instead?? Thanks for this!
