Both Karen Gillan and David Tennant are on American series this fall! Gillan will star in ABC's "Selfie" and Tennant will be on an American interpretation of BBC's "Broadchurch," titled "Gracepoint."

I am still so puzzled as to why they are remaking Broadchurch for America, and if they had to, why they didn't just cast an American lead. I love DT, but hearing that weird quasi-American accent coming out of his mouth is not right!

He sounds AWFUL.
And honestly, instead of the emotional reaction I had to the original trailer, I was watching this one going "Oh, it's the exact same thing". Silly me thought they'd change it since Broadchurch actually had a decent following on BBCA. I just don't know that this is the way for him to break into American roles.
Sidenote, looking very forward to the 2nd British season since it was announced that DT, Olivia Coleman and Arthur Darvill are coming back.
And fwiw, it's more of a Scottish than British invasion. I do like Karen Gillan and hope Selfie ends up being good. Despite the horrible wig.
I loved Broadchurch. I know that there are a ton of people that haven't watched it yet. But to me, it feels cheap to remake it so soon. They didn't even change up the cinematography. The shot of the mom running down the road is the same. Hell, it's still a town by the ocean. SO STUPID.
I'm deciding if I should watch this or just find and queue up Broadchurch instead so that he has one of his sexy Commonwealth accents back!
Watch the original one...it was SO good. This one does not seem like it'll have the same feel.
And see if you can watch the uncut version. BBC America cut out some stuff that would have been nice to have in. (Trying not to give too much stuff away here).

Definitely get it from itunes or Amazon. If only for the last episode. BBCA cut some pretty good scenes from the final episode.

I think, this is in large part due to the chemistry of the cast. Everything about the original just had that "feel" to it, that you knew it was going to be good from the first 5 minutes.
Watching that trailer, even though it's the exact same staging, writing, etc, does not have the same emotional pull as the original.

And why are they calling it Gracepoint? It looks EXACTLY the same, even down to the script. Its really weird.
Also, Karen's wig looks awful.
Which is hysterical because it's made of her hair. lol.
Karen Gillan is my husband's imaginary girlfriend. I wonder if it will be enough to get him to watch this show since he's generally not a fan of sitcoms.
